Elderly travelers to get break on searches at Orlando International Airport
Associated Press ^ | 3/14/12 | Staff

Starting Monday, travelers over age 75 at Orlando International Airport and three others nationwide will get a break at security checkpoints under a test program that could allow them to keep their shoes and light jackets on and skip pat-downs.

The new guidelines announced Wednesday by the Transportation Security Administration are part of an effort to move away from its one-size-fits-all security procedures and speed lower-risk passengers through while focusing on those who may need more scrutiny. Similar changes were made last fall for travelers 12 and younger.

As much as this would make sense, I’m sure that the Muzzies will exploit this. Profiling is a necessity.

The Orlando Sanford International Airport is among the top 30 highest volume airports in the world, and now that congress has said airports can opt out of using TSA screeners, and use private screeners instead, this could result in a stampede by other major airports to escape the TSA.

For its part, the TSA is seeing an increasing number of existential threats to its existence, and so is desperately trying to come up with ways to both justify itself as a huge bureaucracy, as well as silence its critics, by whatever means possible.

Whoever the next Republican president, he needs to come down on the TSA—hard.

Voluptious 25 years olds will not get such a break.

Here is a link to the article about Sanford International Airport. It is located about 30 minutes north of Orlando International Airport. Sanford is trying to kick out the TSA.

This under 12 thing is bogus. My grandson gets pulled over every single time he goes through security, he is now 8 and first time he flew he was 18 months.
He can read the signs and this last month asked them why he was being pulled over because he wasn’t 12 yet.
They told him it was random. suuurrreeee

Let’s telegraph to the world exactly what our security profiling consists of and who is exempt so the terrorists can exploit it. Who is the genius behind this

Nonsense. This would require carrying photo ID.

Sometimes, you make an INTERNAL announcement; and for the safety of all - you freakin’ keep it internal. We have just announced that one of the busiest airports in the USA will bypass checking the elderly.

Now, if you are a bloodthirsty jihadi - how do you suppose you are going to get your equipment through security? If you are running drugs, and want your supply to make it through security without a pat-down, what are you going to do?

How about silently make these changes? No need to announce it through AP.

Thanks ruralvoter.

If everyone flying were required to carry a gun onto the plane, there would be zero hijacking.

Whoops, make that, zero successful hijacking. ;’)

Get rid of the TSA. Until the TSA is gone it won’t natter if they exude the elderly or not. They have failed to stop every threat that got on to a plane, only alert passengers stopped these incidents. All they do is expose people to radiation and grope them for the fun of it.

Sigh...I had both hips replaced, so naturally I set off the alarms and get the royal patdown. Once I was waiting my turn for the TSA Grope and there was a lady my age sitting next to me. I asked her, “knee or hip?” and she said, “knee”. I smirked and said, “we sure look like Butch and Sundance, don't we?”

I understand and tolerate what they do —I lost work colleagues and a friend over at the Pentagon. But still, I don't need someone sticking their hands down my pants —

One thing I’ve learned, is that the decades of conditioning the public has had “just go along with the hijackers” is forever shattered.

They may take a couple passengers, but I fully expect that if something like that were attempted again, the terrorist would be torn apart (literally beaten and ripped to shreds) long before gaining access to the cockpit.
