I once read that the Captain’s character was based (loosely of course) on Captain Hornblower.

Most of Star Trek is based on the Forbidden Planet, including the captain getting the girl.

“Forbidden Planet” was a classic and a very entertaining classic at that.

I have it on VHS tape, need to see if it is on DVD. That girl was as hot as they come, what was her name, Altaira or something like that?
