When you include oil shale, the U.S. has 1.4 trillion barrels of technically recoverable oil, according to the Institute for Energy Research, enough to meet all U.S. oil needs for about the next 200 years, without any imports.

For later...
And it belngs to We The People by way of the government’s national mineral rights property exception. We need to make a stink about this. Why should we be under the thumb of diaper-headed muslims in the middle east who really don’t give a rats a&& about our way of life?
bttt
Obama never uses the truth... it gets in the way of his agenda! The Obama-ites never question their messiah, and besides, who needs facts when you have Obama!
When is someone going to sue the US Government for economic policies that financially harm the citizenry? When are people going to openly mock Mr. Algae to his face? When is someone going to ask Mr. Algae how much are the Saudi’s paying you in your offshore accounts to keep us beholden to them.
When are we scrapping the EPA, the Department of Education and the Commerce Department?
We or the Oil Companies I should say, can't go into Federal Lands and "3D" map them. To Freepers I have spoken here with that do it for a living note they usually find more than they thought...
So the question begs;
* Have all non Federal Lands been mapped?
* Who is stopping it on the Federal Side, Pelosi? Chu? etc etc...
* Why are their no Presidental Candidates on our side promoting a full mapping of the entire US to know exactly what we have?
Keep up the pressure!
You are talking about 3D seismic which can be fairly expensive:
4) How much does it cost to collect
seismic data?
* The cost of acquisition depends on permit costs,
crew costs, and other equipment costs.
* Currently, it costs around $85,000 per square mile to
acquire 3d seismic data.
* The Oil and Gas company that requests the
acquisition spends at least $1MM, and possibly over
$40MM, before they see any of the results.
* The mineral owner pays nothing.

Multiply those acquisition costs by the square miles of leases in the USA and you start to see the enormous cost and risk involved in the oil business. The US government takes no risk, but reaps huge taxes from the private oil companies.
Thank you!
Our square miles are times 85k is ...
3 790 000 x 85 000 = 322 150 000 000
That is 1/3 of Porkulus! We could have done it !!!
For 200-years later...The extraction thereof, if our marxist master gets his way...
