This past summer, I went to Pella, Iowa to assist in the premiere event for the Palin documentary, The Undefeated. The small, Midwest Dutch-German town and its old historic opera house had been chosen as an ideal spot to launch the acclaimed documentary film because it was just that: small and Midwestern.

Sarah from Alaska engaged each and every person who had stood patiently and politely for hours just to get a glimpse of her. She was not working the crowd for the photographers or as a cursory obligation; she was getting to know each and every person like they were her neighbors.

The discussion went on for hours and with great engagement by all until the Palins joined us. Then, the conversation shifted entirely towards Palin and her political plans and importance. A great night had gotten better, if that was possible. Breitbart pontificated and jousted with Bruce and the press and the handlers.
Palin would listen and weigh-in as all sat on edge hoping for THE declaration or even a wink and a nod, but it did not come. So without it, everyone would sound off again, Breitbart would go off in style, and round and round the conversation would go, to everyones delight.

Anyone have any idea of who the author of this Breitbart post is? I suspect it’s Steven Bannon of “The Undefeated” fame, but I’m not sure.
I wish I knew .. I looked everywhere. It’s currently unattributed.
Don’t know but wasn’t Jedidiah Bila there too?
It says “by Chris Bannon”.
BTTT
Thanks for posting this starwise! RIP Andrew and God bless Sarah Palin.

CHRIS, I WAS THERE! Yes I was at the bar, 15’ away. I am a witness to all you state above. I’ll share my story of how I got to talk to Sarah.
A certain someone that the Palins know had tickets to be the first to see Stephen’s (don’t know if your related) movie UNDEFEATED in Manhattan. I jumped on the chance. The movie got me pumped that maybe, just maybe Sarah might run with this movie to encourage her. I got to speak with Stephen.
Word got out that she would go to Pella Iowa for the Premier. I couldn’t get tickets for the movie in the Opera House, but got tickets for the Cookout in the rear. As you described Sarah shook hands, signed autographs, and smiled warmingly for photos, for hours.
Maybe 1500 people got to say hello, but being a 50 yr. old man I felt a little uncomfortable getting in a crowd of youngsters and women that surrounded her.
So though I was within 5 feet when she was leaving, I kept my distance. I was talking with a local man in his late twenties when we decided we go for a beer. The entire square had emptied, when he told me that there is a bar right behind us. It look more like an insurance , or real estate office.
We walked in and were on our second beer when who came stepping out of the elevator, but Todd and Sarah. I was dumbfounded. I just watched as she walked towards us, but across the room.
She was ahead of the group and alone. I couldn’t pass this chance up, so I called out “Governor, Can I come over and say hello.” She turned and walked towards me. She greeted me as if we were old cousins, with the best smile she has ever given.
I couldn’t believe her energy level. After being out in public all day, and as all of us there observed was as gracious as any one could possibly be, she still was as gracious to me as the thousands she met all day. Her smile and eyes are burned into my memory.
I come from a large energetic family and Sarah would fit in like a glove. My heart pounded as we spoke. A few minutes past and I got her to laugh. I thank her for being the voice for so many and that I asked her to thank Todd for me as well. She thank me for stating that and that Todd is out here given his all also.
I stayed at the bar for the entire time (we at the bar had out own political debate going). I got to meet Tammy Bruce and Jedediah, and waved to Andrew and gave him a thumbs up.
The best moment came when a group of late teens, early twenties joined us at the bar for our political conversation. In the middle of speaking this one young man stopped in mid-sentence and stated: “Wait! That is Sarah Palin. She is beautiful!” His eyes were so wide I thought he was permanently locked in place. We all started laughing. “Yes she is!” It didn’t end there.
It was 2:00 AM when Sarah and her group got up to call it a night. As she walked ahead everyone who had arrived in the bar lined up for Sarah to repeat what she had done all day, and sure enough she obliged.them as if they were the first she met.
I took my opportunity to ask Todd if I can come over to shake his hand. He walked over to me. I think the first thought that goes through your mind meeting Todd and Sarah is that physically they appear to be like meeting Professional athletes. They are that fit and move with such a powerful grace.
We talked a couple of minutes when suddenly I felt a hand on my left shoulder. It was Sarah.
She said: “Dennis I appreciate you for coming from NY.” I was stunned she remembered my name. I stated I tried to meet you half way. They laughed but they looked at each other and Todd stated; “Well, not quite!”
I don’t know what I expected when I decided to go to Pella. I only knew I felt the need to show my support.
I spent 30 years in Law Enforcement and have been around very important people and those that need all the help a public servant can give.
What I witnessed that day, I have never seen the energy, the strength, the grace, and the welcoming spirit that Sarah Palin displayed that incredibly long day into night. She appear at home, in fact as if she were welcoming anyone into her home.
Chris we were just a few feet away, but we both shared a remarkable day. Having the opportunity to speak with Sarah will always place it high in the many days I have already lived.
Chris Bannon - perhaps Steve’s brother or son?
Inspiring and wonderful to see.
