Gingrich Calls Political System Stupid, Vows To Stay In The Race By NBC's Alex Moe

PALATINE, Ill. – Hours after finishing a disappointing second place in both the Alabama and Mississippi primaries, Newt Gingrich marched his campaign onward, vowing he is “staying in the race.”

Campaigning in Illinois on Wednesday, Gingrich made little mention of the two contests he had hoped to win in the South. He instead focused his speeches on the big ideas that drive his campaign, explaining that many people just don’t understand what needs to be done to help change the country.

“The thing I find most disheartening about this campaign is the difficulty of talking about positive ideas on a large scale because the news media can’t cover it and candidly, my opponents can’t comprehend it,” Gingrich told the five hundred plus person crowd at the Northwest Suburban Republican Lincoln Day Dinner. “The result is you can’t have a serious conversation. It doesn’t fit. It doesn’t count. It is as though it doesn’t occur.”

Gingrich, who brought up Alzheimer’s research for the first time in weeks, admitted he wants to be “the candidate of science and technology.”

“We are at the edge of such extraordinary opportunities and it is so hard to get this party to understand it,” said Gingrich, speaking in a more frustrated tone than usual. “Our political system is so methodically and deliberately stupid.”

Newt didn’t say this when he won SC or GA. Did he?

Well, Newt, if it’s stupid, why are you participating in it?

If it’s stupid, surely a man of intelligence would be able to win.

This comes across as petulant, arrogant and from the ivory tower. It ain’t gonna help him.

Truthfully, when any of our candidates are behind or lose, they all come across a petulant. I have heard the same from all.

Don’t you agree?

Newt keeps Santorum and Romney ‘honest’ by staying in this race since I think Rick is a Pied Piper to lead conservative voters into Romney’s arms after he’s whipped up their emotions in a losing primary campaign.

A lot of the races ahead like Texas are strictly proportional and Newt will get his share and hopefully Romney will get a small enough share to fall short at the convention.

Stupid is a good word to describe the structure of this GOP presidential nominating year-at least a year, seems like a decade. Couldn’t have been any more ridiculously insulting and embarrassing if Barack Obama himself had designed it. Anyone know WHO did by the way?

You know, I honestly don’t know. The best way I can think to answer your question is to say that I’m not particularly impressed with any of our candidates, even those who have already dropped out, even though it is apparent that they are all better men/ women than Obama.

It doesn’t seem to me that America is producing actual conservative patriots much anymore. If she is, they aren’t running for high office.

What Newt said though is essentially calling voters stupid, and no doubt, a large number of them are, and a damn good portion of our population is in fact stupid.

However, one running for president doesn’t say this. To do so is in and of itself stupid. A presidential candidate needs more tact than this. For all of Newt’s intelligence, which he certainly does have, he fails as a salesman.

If one is attempting to sell a product to a potential customer and the customer does not seem to want it, seems difficult to perseude, one does not close the deal by calling the potential customer stupid, even if the customer is stupid. If I had to guess, I’d say the saleman just burned a huge number of bridges.

I’m going to try remember and put together a demonstration of how the media went out of their way to suppress Newt’s platform and message while marginalizing his candidacy and history.

I’ll get back to you all in a day or two.

[ That is a pretty “broad” statement. Pun intended. ]

OK.. Let go at this again...

1) Most democrats are women...
2) Most of Obamas voters are women...

Note: they are not black, hispanic or jewish they are just generally WOMEN... As a kicker most of Willard Romney voters are women.. American women are not too smart..

It shouldn’t take that long. What does the general public know about Newt’s platform? I see Santorum and Romney every time they talk about the election on ‘the news’, never Newt. Anyway, we’ll see how cocky everyone is when it comes down to Obama debating Santorum or Romney. That’s disaster waiting to happen.

Looking at the dem party I see many, many men. Looking at the “love fest” that was The Won’s campaign events...I saw many, many men. Since I try to never paint any group of people with a broad brush..I’ll just say that there are many individuals that aren’t too smart.

I certainly appreciate your patience in trying to enlighten me and stand in deep awe of your obviously superior intellect. ;)
