WASHINGTON (AP) - An Afghan soldier shot to death a 22-year-old Marine at an outpost in southwestern Afghanistan last month in a previously undisclosed case of apparent Afghan treachery that marked at least the seventh killing of an American military member by his supposed ally in the past six weeks, Marine officials said.

Lance Cpl. Edward J. Dycus of Greenville, Miss., was shot in the back of the head on Feb. 1 while standing guard at an Afghan-U.S. base in the Marja district of Helmand province. The exact circumstances have not been disclosed, but the Dycus family has been notified that he was killed by an Afghan soldier.

Our soldiers are suffering horribly over there under the ridiculous RoE and lack of support offered by their own government. No excuse for the massacre (which we're still waiting for the details on - if they ever come), but these kinds of things can certainly be a catalyst.

There may not be any excuses, but there sure are a hell of a lot of reasons.

Probably fretting over "diversity."

Has Karzai apologized yet?

Didn’t think so.

I just heard that Karzai is upping the ante by stating more than one soldier was involved and demanding all be turned over. This is well beyond the breaking point. Even getting out now, we will likely have to fight our way out like the Soviets.

Under Obama, everything is rapidly spiraling out of control. Now, North Korea has set some sort of a speed record, reneging on their agreement. Living under the Obama regime is so frustrating because any criticism is ridiculed. Domestically he has the pieces in place to clamp down on any and all opposition.

In the latest setback, an Afghan civilian interpreter at a British base in Helmand province stole a coalition pickup truck, drove it at high speed onto an airfield ramp and crashed it just as a plane carrying Defense Secretary Leon Panetta was landing Wednesday.

First I've heard about that one, too. I don't watch TV news, but has the media said anything about it? Sounds like a pretty big story to me. Or have the MSM said anything about Panetta disarming our Marines before he would get in the same room with them? Does he prefer to trust the Muzzies?

A slight tangent, if I may, on this article. I have been giving a lot of thought about the Staff Sgt. accused of killing the Afghan civilians.

In short, I blame, his superiors and the Pentagon for what happened. This is the story of a soldier twice wounded in the service of his country, including a brain injury. The brain injury, alone, should have disqualifid him from further duty, whether in a war zone or a statside assignment.

However, the issue goes beyond that - WELL beyond that. 3 tours of duty in Iraq and 1 in Afghanistan shows that the reduction in the military begun by Clinton and continued with Obama has proven disastrous. These fine folks have been over used and repeatedly sent back to wars that the generals aren’t allowed to fight as real wars. Instead, we are seeing “politically correct” wars instead of open warfare such as was conducted during WWII. Our troops are paying the price of this foolishness and this SSGT. is the poster child.

With the drawdown of regular military that Clinton initiated, the Pentagon has relied too frequently on the reserves to fight the Iraq and Afghan wars. These folks are tired and “shell shocked” (to use the older WWII term for today’s PTSD).

I don’t doubt that the SSGT. cracked under the stress, but I don’t believe that it is entirely his fault. The Army in general, the Pentagon and, certainly Obama, all share the blame and need to be held equally or more accountable.

Yes, the MSM covered both of the stories you ask about.

My question is, regarding the “Afghan civilian interpreter”, whose side was he on? Kind of hard to blame that one on the U.S. And the Panetta disarming Marines story - was discussed on a long thread on FR the other day, sounds like that is not without precedent (to disarm the troops when some “dignitaries” visit).

I could not believe casey when he said in so many words that the real tragedy in the Ft. Hood massacre was the damage to diversity. I worked with one of the soldiers killed—as far as casey’s four stars, I know where I would like to put them. OIF vet

Being advised by Rosa Brooks, who, as a DoD Soros plant, dutifully conveys whatever she knows to her master, who, in turn, reveals all to the ISI and Taliban.

And we sit here, watching March Madness or having a glass of whatever, while our guys are being betrayed and killed right in front of our eyes.

The buck stops at the President. HE is responsible.

"The buck stops at the President. HE is responsible."

Is the American president, Obama is (amassing his 'generals') for his dictatorship?
