St. Charles [Missouri] caucus ends in near riot with no delegates awarded
Examiner.com ^ | March 17, 2012 | Lisa Payne-Naeger

After months of preparation, education, and activism by conservatives, all over Missouri, caucus day arrived, and in St. Charles County it came and went without awarding delegates.

The Francis Howell North High School bleachers were packed and there was a standing room only crowd after the caucus was called to order, an hour and a half late. Clearly crowds exceeded expectation as checking in the overflow crowd took much longer than expected. Most in the crowd waited longer to be checked into the caucus than the caucus lasted.

The beginning of the caucus started with the reading of the pre-approved rules, which included disallowing recording devices and cameras by attendees and media. Boisterous objections broke out after this announcement and things disintegrated from there.

One protester challenged Eugene Dokes, the St. Charles County Central Committee Chairman, and soon after that police reinforcements were called into the meeting.

Ron Paul and Mitt Romney supporters made up the majority of the crowd as was evidenced by their reactions when the caucus chairman was nominated by the St Charles County Republican Central Committee Chair. While a voice vote was taken to elect the caucus chair, the noise of the crowd clearly did not support the conclusion of the vote as another noisy protest broke out after Matt Ehlen was declared caucus chair.

Unable to bring the crowd under control, there was a motion to adjourn, a quick second followed with an even faster voice vote, and the meeting was ended. By this time, police were in place, inside and outside of the building as well as in the air, and attendees were told to leave or be arrested on grounds of trespass.

I was there. What a shameful display. The Ron Paul people were there to disrupt and that's what they did.

What part of MO is this? Is it one of the heavily LDS areas like Far West?

Get used to this scene. It may reach all the way to Tampa.

While Santorum won the beauty contest earlier in the year, it didn't give him a single delegate. However a caucus awarded him 4 delegates earlier this week.

The results of all cauci should be in later.

I have a friend who was in the Tea Party in I believe it was Springfield area. A few months ago he told me he was totally discouraged as one or two Ron Paulistinians had suddenly appeared and were proceeding to "capture" that Tea Party group.

They were doing this by dominating every agenda and general intimidation which worked rather well with so many mild mannered grass roots people learning about politics and the system for the first time in their lives.

The Pauiistinians have moved far beyond being "flies in the ointment," to being militant beligerants toward both the Republican and Tea Parties!!!

Worse yet, they're frightening off regular citizens who for the first time in their life are trying to become activists to save this country from too many of it's own people who are just interested in becoming "community organizers" themselves, in the pattern of the one from Chicago who plays hardball.

The Paulites at our caucus today were well-behaved, mannerly yet enthusiastic, nothing like I’ve read about. They did Ron proud!

A list of the private schools gives you a good indication of the predominant religions.

It’s a suburb of St. Louis. Apparently a lot of thug trash from St. Louis has spilled over and they now live in St. Charles County. No surprise that they don’t know how to conduct themselves in public; even in something as important as choosing the President of the United States.

Yeah, I found another list after I posted that gave the religious breakdown. Mostly Catholic and Evangelical in the county.

I don't think anyone ever said that Perry was the only one that could win. Mainly that statement was born out of the terrible mess made out of the historic CA Governor's Recall election which unleashed a miserable RINO worse than Gray Davis or even Jerry Brown!!!

When one of these so-called "inevitable" RINO's gets in, they can really roll right over conservatives with pet spending/squandering projects of the Demonicrats. Democrat Governors/Presidents can sometimes be stopped like Gray Davis was, but big talkin supposed conservatives are intimidating to the R's in the legislature and only the leftist win in the end!

Now, what was it about that tagline that made you think of Rick Perry? (grin)

Really. I'm beginning to think Paulbots and Occupiers are sisters under the skin. When I voted in the Ohio primary there was a Paulbot there, wearing a campaign T-shirt (illegal and well known to be so) who made a stink about having to cover it up. Narcisistic twentysomething d-bag who had to make a scene, in a tiny precinct in a small town voting place. What ails these jerk-offs.

It's almost like some kind of zombie has overtaken people who support that maggot. A colleague of mine screamed her support for him while I was on the phone with her. Now this is someone who is a ‘christian, conservative, and believes in the constitution. From those viewpoints, her positions have disintegrated to supporting Ron Paul.

Last weekend I was listening to Richard Land live on the radio during the KS caucus and some woman called in and she started off calmly enough but then when she had an opening yelled that Jesus was a ba*tard child and Mary was a wh*re.
A Ron Paul supporter of course. She started giving her position away when she kept calling the Israelis “those people” occupying Palestine.

People are losing their bearings; willing to go with Ron Paul is a complete lack of intellectual reasoning. The guy really is a kook and he is running interference for Romney.

My very limited experience (I know, it might not be representative) with some local Paulbots reminded me very much of some followers of Lyndon LaRouche I’ve encountered when going to the main Baltimore post office. I’m beginning to think there may be some “interbreeding/intermixing” between the membership of these groups. Or maybe they just draw from the same type of personality?

And, from the reporting I’ve seen, it seems that some Saul Alinsky type tactics are beginning to be employed by SOME of the Paulbot and Mittbot groups. The end justifies the means, don’t you know? Power at all costs!

Things may get VERY INTERESTING in the lead up to Tampa.

When someone is trying to run a railroad, a bit of disruption is never out of place.

Never agree to the ground rules that someone has pre-arranged. Bring your Roberts Rules and have some fun.

So when will that St. Charles County caucus be postponed to?

Why no results yet from elsewhere in the state?

Why no results yet from elsewhere in the state? ______________________________________________________________ I was just reading about that a short time ago. The way the Missouri GOP has the process set up: Each county has three (3) days to submit their winners in the county caucuses. Then the winners declare their candidate, but they don't have to declare at all. Anyhow, it's a mess and the article I read said the accurate, Delegate count might not be until the third or fourth week of April.

That’s a mystery about results...been looking online and haven’t seen anything.

I don’t know about any postponement. Not sure how it’s going to be handled.

So when will that St. Charles County caucus be postponed to?

I believe we are done. The rest of the state delegates will choose the national delegates and St. Charles County will have no voice.

I believe this incident was well planned and expected by both sides and the result as well. The plurality was for Santorum, so the Paul and Romney people ganged up and shut it down.

I live in St. Charles County, MO and you are correct. The federal government has been moving people from St. Louis City and St. Louis County into St.Charles for years and paying their rent and feeding them when they get here. We have always been a strong Republican county but if the federal government has it’s way that could change in the future.

Caucuses are lame. Every state needs to use primaries, period. They should not have a choice.
