The vp will be a woman .
I suspect it will be the Texas senator .
The whole war on woman thing will be shut down

What about Jan Brewer? Not seen much about her as yet but she seems impressive.

as painful as it will be, far better for A republican to be at the helm if the wheels fall of the wagon than Obama. Obama’s strategy is to force the wheels off then implement lots of bad stuff.

Personally I think the ideal ticket for winning is a Santorum/Gingrich ticket. Between them they hold fewer than 100 less delegates than Romney and could easily overtake him.

I love the idea and have pushed it, though I’d rather it be the other way around. The man with the plan to take the lead and the man who lives social conservatism to provide the moral backbone. President Gingrich could then pass the torch to VP Santorum in 2016 (The Speaker is going to be getting on by then - he’ll be, what, 72?).

Too often in US politics, the VP is treated more as insurance, to be wheeled out every 4 years - the old family tradition of an heir and a spare, if you like. Doesn’t have to be like that, though. An active and vigorous VP would be not only an asset, but necessary to roll back the damage caused.

I am all in for the Speaker. Simple as that. You don’t bring a knife to a gun fight, and you need a fighter - one who will fight with whatever it takes, no matter how dirty - to solve the serious and entrenched problems in the political establishment. If he happens to be a master tactician and versed in history, that is a bonus.

Senator Santorum is also well worth supporting. To the charges that he is a “one note” politician, I say that his one note is the core problem with the decay of society.

These two men, combined, are probably the best pick. They align on policy (yeah, I know, most of the policy talking points are Newt’s), they are both conservative.
They both have negatives that cancel each other out. Except ....

There is one problem with the team, either way around. The Republican candidate will not win without the independents. Sure, the conservative base, according to figures posted in various threads is 40% of the population. Still need an extra 11% from somewhere. Better 20% or more of independent voters, to give a good cushion.

A lot of independents are women. Speaker Gingrich has well known and often discussed minuses with women. Rightly or wrongly, they are there and a practical issue to be overcome.
Unfortunately, Senator Santorum, thanks to some rather deft work by the MSM (Hey, I don’t like what was done to a good man, but can admire the sheer skill it was done with), has equal problems now with independent women voters.

Yeah, it is easy for me to sit here, 3000 miles away, and discuss it. Sort of an intellectual exercise, you might think.

Two of my children are now planning to emigrate to the USA by 2016. We have talked about it, and it makes sense. Me, probably not. Too old to rip up my roots yet again. Besides, there is still a tiny chance here for the conservative cause - and I don’t turn my back on a fight.
