The Exec.Order allows the nationalization of pretty much the entire USA even in peacetime if he desires. They can, under this order, restrict civilian travel by any mode, including (probably) foot travel. They can ration food. They can restrict water usage, even from private wells. They can ration any and all drugs, including OTC and vitamins. They can collectivize farms. They can take over all energy production, including home solar units. It also allows for drafting civilians. If they have need of your skills, they can compel you to work for no compensation. All this not in a time of war, but in time of “National Emergency” (several EO national emergency states already in place) or even in Peacetime

There really is nothing to worry about here. This EO only applies within the executive branch. For example, it cannot apply to congress... I mean, come on, what’s 0bama gonna do, “deem” that it applies to congress? Next thing, he’ll tell them when to be in session or not.
Its been in the making for many years, just being implemented for the last nearly four years by our dictator King Obama. America has closely converted to communist and they did it using our own laws. And even if we get Romney or Santorum it will not change. Only Newt realized what has really happened and wanted to start the change back. Remember his rant about judges? Just one example. Another the total, on his first day, kicking the communists czars and Obamacare to the trash pile. America is waking up too late.

I realize this EO originally dates from 1950. Considering that the Cold War ended in 1991, why would Clinton renew it in 1994? Why would it be renewed now? What would be the reason?

The Clinton amendment did not accomplish what the Obama one does.
Compare them side by side, and include the Reagan version and the 1950 act.
Certain key words have been changed. This EO does give the President powers the others did not.
This EO also is all inclusive which the others were not.
This EO also gives the government the power to dictate to private businesses, issue guaranteed loans, and also ties up the banks in new and exciting ways.
Read all the versions and pay attention to any changes as they are very significant and far reaching. If Bush had done this I/We would be freaking out like never before, Obama doing this is a completely different story.
This was predicted / expected to happen after the election in November. Why he did it now is the most important question.
In actuality “National Defense” is only the premise used to enforce this order.
Read section 102 on the Clinton version, and the Obama version, the change was 1 word. That 1 word changes everything, and does change the EO to something completely different that is crafted of “need” as opposed to “Threat.
Need is a ubiquitous concept, threat is a very narrow one in comparison. That is only the second segment. Once you read the whole thing you understand the scope of it is unprecedented, and the very thing we need to neutralize the Conservative agenda, and ell the obstructionism practiced by the Republican congress.
We’ll see.
This is the move I have been waiting for, and hoping I was not imagining he would do this. I thought he would do it in December after a won second term. He must know something we don’t that allows him, or compels him to do it now.

These EOs have been around for decades. Nixon signed one back in either 1970 or 1972. It does no good, though, to mention that. Some people (not you) want their Chicken Little parade.

When I saw the story I just took a few moments to do a bit of research rather than jump to conclusions and assume a massive conspiracy was afoot.

The original EO dealing with national defense resources preparedness was issued in 1939 (EO 8248) according to the National Archives. It has been superseded a number of times, starting in 1951 by nearly every President through Bill Clinton, and amended twice by George W. Bush.
I remember when Bush amended this very EO some on the left started wailing that he was about to end elections and setup concentration camps. Sound silly? Some on the right are doing the same thing right now.
They may have been around for decades, but this president is an evil bastard communist dictator who is attempting rather successfully to neutralize the constitution and congress, and that changes everything.
Many on FR noted this possibility when Bush started it. We could trust Bush not to go nuts with it, but its very existence imperiled us if/when someone like Obama assumed control.
If they tried to take over everything they would not have the manpower and they would have a civil war on their hands. Maybe they could do it in Europe but not here.

Congress can revoke any executive order within a certain time frame, 60 to 90 days, I think.

Tell them that 0bama sabotaged the BP oil rig so he’d have the excuse he needed to impose nationwide moratoriums on oil drilling. That ought to get them thinking. Or maybe sending assault weapons to Mexico (Fast & Furious) so he’d have the excuse he needed to begin imposing harsh gun controls in the United States, starting with FFL’s (firearms dealers).

For Obama or any President to take over they need the backing of the military. The police could never enforce it. They lack the firepower the people can put up. OBAMA is now attacking FFA (Future Farmers of America) and 4-H. They are imposing new regulations on Family Farms and child labor and specifically sighted these two organizations as not good for children. One of the regs is children cannot be around farm animals under the age of 16. They are holding hearings on this right now.
Children under the age of 16 will NOT be able to TOUCH any animals or TRACTORS. You do understand......our County Fairs are put on by our local 4-H groups, which are all CHILDREN! Our kids won't be able to show animals or participate in tractor pulls. CITY KIDS WON'T BE ABLE TO DO GRASS CUTS ON WEEKENDS!

I think the issue that has people stirred up here is that while this EO may have roots that trace back as far as 1939, that up until now, we had, (or thought we had), decent people in charge who were not intent upon the destruction of all we know and love : |

Here comes the it can't happen here crowd. Did you read it??? Did you see what was changed?? They can do this during peace time now. He doesn't need a national emergency to implement this. He only has to say that our country isn't defended as properly as it should be and he cant nationalize any industry he wants and draft and people he wants to achieve those goals. Also as I read it a lot, if not all of this power falls under the jurisdiction of the Dept of Homeland Security now instead of FEMA. Okay, this new EO is nothing more than standard update of prior executive orders that said basically the same thing. This has been analyzed to death over at Hot Air, Legal Insurrection, Ace of Spades, etc. There is nothing particularly noteworthy here unless you were terrified of the previous EO's almost just like it amended by Clinton and Bush.
Sorry, if you want to throw in with the black helicopter crowd and worry yourself sick about nothing over at InfoWars, go for it. I am going to take a pass. This is nothing more than conspiracy mongering.
