Maher: Southerners Should Celebrate Heritage In One Day Called "St. Cracker's Day"

I agree that most of what Maher says is repulsive and disgusting. The man has a reasonably quick wit, but he isn’t funny and relies on these sorts of statements to piss people off and remain relevant. If conservatives would simply ignore him, the guy would be off the air in a year. Maher is a one trick pony. All he has at this point is insulting traditional people and Christians to keep his ratings up. I know it is not likely to happen, but if we all just collectively yawned at what he says and stopped reacting to it Bill Maher would be forgotten very quickly.

NOVEMBER 11—Comedian Bill Maher was slapped yesterday with a $9 million palimony suit by an ex-girlfriend who alleges that the HBO star subjected her to physical and verbal abuse, including “insulting, humiliating and degrading racial comments.” In the below Los Angeles Superior Court complaint, Nancy Johnson, a centerfold model and former flight attendant also known as Coco Johnsen, alleges that Maher, 48, reneged on promises to pay her expenses and purchase a Beverly Hills home. Johnson, who says she dated Maher for 17 months before splitting from him in May, also contends that the performer promised to marry her and have children. Johnson, pictured at right, does not detail the degrading racial comments allegedly made by Maher, and recounts only one episode of supposed physical abuse by the host of HBO’s “Real Time.” She charges that Maher pulled her arm and shook her at one party, causing “injuries to her back and neck,” and later that evening warned he'd hit her on the head with a hammer if she was unfaithful. We can look at Maher from several perspectives, but it all comes down to this - he's a comedian.

He's not a journalist, he's not a commentator, and he's not really all that intelligent. He wasn't doing much until he landed the HBO gig so he could cuss at will at degrade women, actually.

Bad attitude tempered with a bit of smartass is his "stock in trade". Add that gigantic honker he's got and he gets laughs from the middle-aged adolescents in our land.

So, I suggest that we here in the South quickly institute a "St. Crackers Day", and invite Maher to be the keynote speaker at the induction ceremony. Maybe we could get him to have a private, one-on-one with the "good ol' boy committee" after the opening ceremonies.

The celestial beauty of being called a "cracker" is, we don't care. We're not thin-skinned and we're not going call a "news conference" and perpetually bemoan that we were "offended" by him at all.

As a part of the left coast crowd he naturally finds himself elevated over all things southern...except maybe southern California. The secret he doesn't know is, most of us "crackers" would take most any Southern state over California any day of the week. It's not rocket science; California slinks further into the abyss everyday, and besides great weather, they have nothing to offer.

So now we have to pick out a color for St. Crackers' Day...I suggest RED (for the sed states, for HOTness, and for if the South is so backwards, then STOP moving down here in droves.)

I may run for president of the "St. Crackers Association"...who knows.

I'll make a campaign promise right now, (clears throat) ON MY FIRST WEEK IN OFFICE I WILL START A CAMPAIGN FOR ALL SOUTHERNERS TO IMMEDIATELY CANCEL HBO, BECAUSE OF BILL MAHER".

Personally, if I made the money Maher is making, I think I would have taken that million bucks he sent to obama and had my nose fixed.
