We’re getting a lot of e-mail this weekend about an executive order issued on Friday afternoon by President Obama titled “National Defense Resources Preparedness.” While the timing of the EO is curious — why send it out on a Friday afternoon when an administration is usually trying to sneak bad news past the media? — the general impact of it is negligible. This EO simply updates another EO (12919) that had been in place since June 1994, and amended several times since.

A power grab, by Obama? Who could think such a thing? As for sneaking it past the media, I was sure they only bother shining his shoes.
take your meds they will help you feel better and are good for you, there is nothing of note here. Ummmm ya whatever. They say to hope for the best and prepare for the worst. Its not out of the realm of possibility for Obama to use this to take control.

I haven’t even heard about this in the media(didn’t expect CNN or MSDNC to report on it but not even Fox News is talking about it)..we have to get Obama out of office or else we won’t recognize this country by the time he’s finished destroying it..he wont be happy til we are all Communists

Uh, this basic EO has been ongoing for decades. For example, here is the one that was made under Reagan.

It has the same sort of stuff in it, including things on developing industry to meet necessary needs of national defense. I’m going to agree with the general assessment of the linked article, that this EO is little more then mere boilerplate changes, and doesn’t grant any additional powers that the administration did not already have.
Yeah, right.
Obama the radical WILL take advantage of whatever power he has. Updating this EO gives him some advantage. Count on it.
What hasn’t been going on for decades tho is now we have a president who is a marxist muslim anti American who is trying, and succeeding, to destroy our great Nation. HE will use EO’s like this in peace time, Reagan would not have.
That changes everything!!!
My guess is a nuke or three may be touched off soon. The Iran thing could disrupt our energy supply and

The huge difference is, Dwight Eisenhower, Dick Nixon, and Jimmy Carter were not power-mad Mau-Mau's planning a bloodsoaked Red revolution.
These extraordinary "standby powers", granted under the shadow of a giant mushroom cloud, were badly conceived and unwisely granted, with insufficient opportunities for Congress to "clog" (Madison's word), delay, impede, or restrict use of them by the Executive Branch. These laws were not written with the People's liberty interest at the fore, and it shows. That's why these passages read like Nazi decrees, or like rescripts from the court of the Emperor Majorian.
Did they succeed?
of course they succeeded in sneaking this through. besides here very few places are talking about it. So I would say about 99.5% of the population has no idea this took place and 99% will still have no idea this happened 6 months from now. Even better about 98% of the population probably has no idea what an Executive Order even is.
