[Arab Muslim] Gunman kills 4 outside Jewish school in France

TOULOUSE, France (AP) — A motorcycle gunman opened fire Monday in front of a Jewish school in the French city of Toulouse, killing a rabbi, his two small sons and one other child, the prosecutor’s office said.
It was at least the third deadly motorcycle shooting in France in a week, shocking the country and prompting strong emotions and high-level discussions in Israel. French prosecutors were studying possible terrorist links, but the motive for Monday’s attack was unclear.

Concerns about a serial killer emerged, as investigators examined whether Monday’s shooting was linked to two deadly shooting attacks in the Toulouse region last week that killed three French paratroopers and left another seriously injured. French media reported those paratroopers were of Arab origin.

I have read stories of Jews who tried desperately to get out of Germany before the war started. Some made it, and some were heart breakingly close before the door slammed shut.

AFP is reporting that a “judicial source” says the same gun was used in the school shootings and the attack on the soldiers.

It’s just a coincidence that the attacker was Muslim and the victims were Jewish.

Sandmaggots are not my favorite culture, but I have yet to see an explanation of how it was determined that the shooter was arab or muslim.

All reports I have seen so far fail to give a description of the shooter; plus I assume that if he was wearing a helmet (burqua?) it would be difficult to ID ethnicity.

While it is likely the killer is Muslim, you have to keep in mind that a Le Pen fanatic is also possible. That is one group who hates Jews and Muslims and would benefit politically from conflict. The odd thing here is that there hasn’t been any claims by al Qaeda yet, which is out of character.

Many Jews got out of Germany quite easily. German Jews were generally well off and Germany didn’t start real persecution until four years after the Nazis took over.

In contrast, eastern European Jews were generally poor and the Nazi started rounding them up right after conquering these countries.

In Germany, 64% of Jews survived. In Poland, it was just 9%.

Thursday's attack saw the killer, clad in a black motorcycle outfit and a helmet with a visor, dismount from a powerful scooter and open fire on the three soldiers as they queued at a cash machine.

Paris is a strange place. I remember back in '93 while visiting, I learned about the GIPN (domestic anti-terrorist unit.) I like to wander Paris on foot, and family warned me about those heavily armed soldiers : when you meet those, get away from there ASAP they brook no PC crap whatsoever. Specially if you don't understand the language you get shot and questioned later. I did see them a few times and they were armored and armed to the teeth.

During that same period, I had a family friend in US Air Force intelligence who reported out of the US Embassy near Place de la Concorde, and she and a few friends were reprimanded not for wearing uniforms (which they often did when officially working) but neglecting to change their combat boots while visiting a local bar.

The current apprehension about terrorism in Paris is as high as it must be in New York City, and has been ongoing since before 9-11, even.

I read the French AFP on line and the authorities are being as PC careful as they are in the US.
They confirmed the weapon was the same (unusually large) caliber, but can't yet say if it was the identical same weapon.

Points (and post) seen as a possibility here. Too many unknowns at this point. Main concern is this investigation is taking too long to sort out. Expecting another attack within 72 to 96 hours (of this sort) in France. Prayer this person is caught quickly.
