Peyton Manning will become the next quarterback of the Denver Broncos, barring a snag during intensified contract negotiations that have commenced under the instruction of the four-time MVP to his agent Tom Condon, according to multiple sources.
Once the Manning deal becomes official, Denver will try to trade Tim Tebow, according to sources.
A contract between the two sides is expected to be a formality. Elway and Manning first discussed the parameters of a five-year, $95 million contract during their March 9 meeting in Denver, the first time the quarterback visited a team during his free agency.
Elway then told Manning during the Friday, March 16 trip to Durham, N.C. -- where the quarterback has done the majority of his training -- that he wanted to finalize a contract "fair to both sides." Neither side expects any hangups.
However, details such as guaranteed money, structure of the deal and contract language designed to protect the Broncos in the event of Manning's inability to perform due to his prior neck surgeries all will be addressed in the contract, sources said.

Yes...yes...yes...as a lifetime Bronco fan and Colorado native...GOOD DAY TO BE A BRONCO FAN
The Vikings could use Tebow.
I’d fifty ways rather have Tebow.
I agree with you!
Manning to Broncos, Tebow to Cowboys, Romo to MInnesota for a case of bandages and 3 gatorade bottles.
Maybe the Colts here in Indiana can have Tebow.
I’d sure like it ;)!
Manning is actually making more money than the Colts would have paid him. He signed a 5-yr, $90 million dollar contract last Spring. The Broncos are paying him $95 million for 5 yrs. The guarantee maoney may be different though. But if he plays out all 5 yrs then, he makes more with Denver.
Tebow getting the boot. He will most likely go to Jacksonville.
If they keep Tebow, I agree. If they let Tebow go .... sad day. A very sad day.
Hell....the Broncos could use Tebow after Manning is out for the season after the second pre season game
I suppose this is an upgrade over Tebow. But it won’t make much difference until the other holes in the roster are addressed....specifically running back.
Peyton will be back in the hospital by November.
The Colts can and should draft Andrew Luck. Miami and Jacksonville should be very interested in Tebow. Cleveland should consider trading from him as well.
Being Tebow to Miami. He wants to play in Florida, but Jax doesn’t want him (they got the wonderful ex-Dolphin, Henne).
These guys are looking for magic bullets and they’re putting way too much emphasis on QB. Basic reality is that NO QB is going to help many of these teams which don’t have the receivers or the offensive line to allow a QB to function decently. The Redskins have ruined two franchise QBs in recent years (Ramsey and Gamble) simply by never having any semblence of protection in front of them and that arises from not drafting intelligently.
No longer a Bronco fan
I would love to see Manning and Tebow in the backfield at the same time. They could run the wild bronco.
I really don’t care about any of this, except that I think Manning is running a terrible risk of being badly and permanently injured.
Jacksonville would be great, Titans would be better. He would languish in Miami.
Sometimes Surely’s law prevails. Surely they may well deserve each other.
As a Browns fan, I hope they stay away. Unless Tebow wants to switch to RB.
As a bronco fan from the days of Floyd Little this is one of the saddest days of this franchise
And possibly in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.
As an Eagles fan, I love to see him come in as a backup under Andy Reid. If Andy can make AJ Feeley and Kevin Kolb look like quality quarterbacks, he might be able to turn Tebow into an all-pro.
At least Elway will not have to face his own moral short comings every day he comes to work and sees a man with character and morals that Elway never had. Wonder if Janet, John's ex, admires Tebow for his character more than she does John for his moral failures.
I wonder if Tebow will land as a starter anywhere?
Ding ding! You nailed the real reason Elway wants to ditch Tebow as soon as possible......
I don't have a dog in this fight one way or the other, but I think that Denver will rue the day. Manning only has a couple of years in him (with his current physical problems) at best and Tebow has pretty much his entire career ahead of him.
That's half the problem. The other half is changing the offensive system more often than most linemen change their underwear.
I can’t be more thrilled.
Denver has had:
Jay Cutler
Kyle Orton
Tim Tebow
and now Peyton Manning. Imagine if they had stuck with Cutler? ;)
:: Peyton will be back in the hospital by November. ::
Manning runs the risk of being in a motorized wheelchair by November.
Manning is not stupid nor do I think he's being financially forced into making this decision.
Darn right!
Any team that wants to go to the Superbowl with Tebow will have to take a big risk and make a huge commitment to build the team around him. Denver obviously didn't want to do that.
But it's worth it. Tebow has pluses that most people willingly ignore.
I couldn't agree with you more.
What kind of receivers you got?
the bronc’s have to play the chargers and raiders twice!!! manning out by oct.
Peyton has morals too
More than decent line. Better than he has had in a while. And I think Decker fits Peyton very well.
I really dont care about any of this, except that I think Manning is running a terrible risk of being badly and permanently injured.

I absolutely agree with you. There’s a time in a person’s life that they need to say I have enough money, I had my time in the spotlight and now I need to find the next stage in my life.
As far as getting rid of Tebow, I think it’s a huge mistake. As hubby just said, Manning’s the past/present and Tebow is the present/future. Tebow did a great job and if they worked with him they’d have a great player for years.
I agree. The brutal cold in Denver, no dome for protection, will take its toll on his neck.
Plus, he will face three teams twice who will cause him problems... the Raiders and Chiefs will physically beat him up, and he has never done well against the Chargers.
He should have went to the Niners... better weather, better team and opponents in the division with two domes and mild Seattle.
Well stated. It took Mr. Elway years and years to become the on-field winner which he was. It would have been nice to give Mr. Tebow such a chance.
Agree, a bad, self serving move by Elway... short-sightedness. By season’s end, Denver fans will be calling “Bring Back Tebow”.
Elway has just joined Michael Jordan as a former superstar turned failed General Manager.
If I’d been the Skins’ offensive coordinator I’d have told Patrick Ramsey to take one step and throw the ball, that’s all anybody there was paying for or deserved or rated.
Tim should go to a team he WANTS to be with (in Florida, maybe, although hes too professional to say he doesnt want to be anywhere) a team in which he will be THE starter without question. I never was a real Broncos fan (pretty-boy Elways doing) but I did buy an authentic Tebow #15 Broncos home jersey. The people in Denver that supported Tebow will always be special. I know Tim will always have a special affinity for them. Having said that if Tebow goes to either Miami or Jacksonville, (Tampa somehow doesnt seem like a fit my memories of that moronic imbecile Warren Sapps cheap shot antics are too fresh) hopefully hell have a much higher caliber offensive line working with him than he had in Denver. If Tim HAS to be a backup, hed fit well in my real team the Packers, but hed never get any starting snaps (Rodgers is deservedly THE guy there). Godspeed, Tim.
EXCELLENT move by Denver. Congratulations to all Bronco fans! (Packer fan here)
