Newbie to Free Republic

I am new to Free Republic. I look forward to being a small part of this community.

I see by many of the postings that most of the posters on this website are ANTI-Romney. That is good because I am too. I am a conservative from Tallahassee, Florida.

I am torn between Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum. Reading some of the postings I see there are passionate folks on the Newt side as well as on the Rick side.

I am leaning toward Rick Santorum because I think he can best beat Romney in the Primary and frankly I think ANYONE can beat Obama in the general. So my gut tells me to support the most conservative in the race.

I am also a Christian Homeschooling dad so you might see why I favor Rick Santorum but I can support Newt in the general election should he win the nomination. I don't think I can stomach voting for Romney though.

Any advise for a newbie?

Welcome to FreeRepublic......If you would like to remain a member, my advice to you is to keep your political opinions to yourself until after the bloodletting and the GOP candidate is elected.

I would also warn you against posting articles from Blogs lest you be considered a "Blog pimp" and accused of being the author of that blob by one anal retentive blog nazi.

In other words, while this site was once a friendly gathering spot of like minded individuals, it has become a fight club and a source of amusement for those "others" over at DU and other leftwing forums who continually post comments from individuals here and joke about their hypocrisy............

I do not plan on being a participant, maybe occasionally. It used to be a lot of fun and humor regardless if we agreed or not. It is mean-spirited including the owner of the web site.

Actually being a RINO might be something of an upgrade for Myth Romney. At least he would then have some worthy traits.

As it is, he's nothing more than a gun-grabbing, pro-abortion, big government statist. RomneyCare is but just one his numerous faults.

I'm surprised the original poster fails to grasp this. It's certainly made clear enough here on FR and the boss has repeatedly emphasized NO ROMNEY, NO WAY!

Welcome. I’m a homeschooling mom in the Los Angeles area, belly of the beast.

I believe that Santorum could beat both Romney and Obama. Santorum is not slick, but he’s intelligent. He is real, where Romney is scripted and phony. I was listening to rush where they played Dead Intern in the Morning Joe, with Santorum today, and he pressured him on “why the birth control issue” and Santo slapped him down beautifully! I was cheering in my car. Do not fall for the media trying to frame him as a social conservative only.

There are a lot of newt supporters here, who don’t realize newt is now helping Romney in the delegate race. If Santorum can win a plurality in some of the states, he can guarantee mitt zero. He can’t do that with Newt siphoning off 10-15%. Newt is personally a deeply needy man, which can affect the use of his full intellect. He’s a better debater and he is shot through with genius ideas, but he’s not likely to be the best steward of the presidency or remember he is our representative. He has not been consistent in conservative ideals either.

That helped me pick Santorum, because after Cain I carefully chose between the rest, and that was when Newt was doing well AND debating once a week. He is too desperate for love and attention, and we’ve recently had two of his personality type in the WH, Clinton and Obama, and see where that gets us?

As far as my comment about leftwing sites picking up outrageous comments from members here, you can only find them if the member has a weird screen name that is not common to google.
