Posted on 03/19/2012 6:02:54 PM PDT by SJackson
Hamid Karzai recently called the brave and selfless members of the United States military demons who were guilty of perhaps 500 atrocities against the people of the Afghanistan. One would have thought that the American Commander-in-Chief would swiftly denounce this stunning act of ingratitude by reminding him that nearly 2000 American troops have given their lives for the freedom of the Afghani people. They are angels of mercy, not demons. But in remaining silent President Obama not only missed an opportunity to defend the honor of our brave men and women in uniform, but also missed an opportunity to remind Muslims the world over of the beautiful tenets of their faith that would never brook such shameful ingratitude. The Koran, Sura 14, says that those who are grateful will be given more by God. And the prophet Mohammad also said, Gratitude for the abundance you have received is the best insurance that the abundance will continue.
The point is this: capitulation by Western leaders in the face of pressure or bullying from Islamic leaders who, with their misguided actions, betray a great world religion is bad for the West and bad for Islam.
For the last three years I banged my head against a wall called the City of Englewood its Mayor and Council cajoling, pushing, and nearly begging that they do something about the Libyan Embassy that is my immediate next-door neighbor. Tax it, fine it, do something to make life uncomfortable for the Gaddafi government who owned it so that the murderous regime would choose to sell it and return the millions of dollars invested in it all in an attempt to make it comfortable for Gaddafi to stay for a short while and return the money to the Libyan people to whom it belonged.
Now comes the unbelievable news that the citys inaction potentially endangered its inhabitants greatly, and not just me, its neighbor. We now know that the Gaddafi regime, under the concealment of diplomatic immunity, was using its embassies throughout the world to stockpile weapons like handguns, sub-machine guns, plastic explosives, hand grenades, and wiretapping equipment. In some embassies the equipment even included booby-trapped vehicles and rocket-propelled grenades.
All this was revealed when the weapons were discovered by representatives of Libyas interim government, the National Transitional Council who started taking over the embassies abroad.
When NTC Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammed Abdul Aziz was asked whether he thought that the weapons, which were shipped in diplomatic bags, were planned for covert operations by Gaddafi and his regime, he answered I have no single doubt in my mind. Aziz revealed that the weapons discovered thus far are just the tip of the iceberg and even included chemical stuff.
I still have no idea if the Embassy next door to me has been searched after this information was revealed. Pretty scary for a small Jersey town or for the Rabbi who lives next-door with nine kids and a Synagogue on his property, or the Moriah Jewish Day School with a thousand Jewish kids that is also a next-door neighbor.
I had actually told city officials how worried I was that there might be arms in the Embassy. But like everything else it was just shrugged off. This led to a clash between me and Congressman Steve Rothman who publicly gave me and other Englewood residents advice to be appropriately good neighbors to the Libyans and followed up later, after I had publicly rejected his advice, with publishing a three page press release attacking me and defending the status quo of the Libyans living tax-free in Englewood, since the city had lost an earlier challenge nearly 30 years earlier.
But what we have learned from the brave Arab peoples of Libya, Egypt, and Syria in the courageous Arab spring is that there can be no capitulation in the face of oppression and terrorism.
BBC head Mark Thomson recently confessed to the Oxford University research project known as The Free Speech Debate to giving Islam a better media portrayal than Christianity out of fear, arguing that the media had to consider the difference between violent threats in place of polite complaints if they pushed ahead with certain types of satire.
Thompson said: Without question, I complain in the strongest possible terms, is different from, I complain in the strongest possible terms and I am loading my AK47 as I write. This definitely raises the stakes.
Thomson was commenting on a 2005 BBC portrayal of Jesus wearing a diaper, something they pushed ahead with even as 45,000 people complained the broadcaster about its irreverent treatment of Christian themes. Thompson belatedly accepted their argument that the BBC would not have ridiculed Islam in a similar fashion.
The idea that one of the worlds foremost news organizations would capitulate to fear and intimidation is deeply disturbing, and not principally for Westerners but for Muslims. The more the West shows an unwillingness to bow in the face of fright and panic, the more our oppressed Muslim brothers and sisters who live in various totalitarian regimes will feel they have committed partners in confronting tyrants like Basher Assad of Syria, and the more Islam will be purged of a militaristic strain that is a betrayal of its core values.
Those who argue that Islam is an inherently violent faith, or anti-Jewish, deliberately deny history as when Sultan Saladin took back Jerusalem in 1187 and allowed all Christians to ransom their lives and the penniless to go free. The Christians had expected the same harsh treatment that they had meted out in conquering Jerusalem in 1099, when all Muslims and Jews were massacred. Saladin was also generous in his treatment of the Jewish community in his realm. In 1190, he called on Jews to settle once again within the walls of Jerusalem, since they had been banned from the city during the Crusader occupation. Maimonides, one of Judaisms greatest thinkers, was court physician to Saladin.
To assail Islam as inherently anti-modern is likewise to ignore how already in the ninth century Muslim rulers were prioritizing general education when few others were. Al-Mamun, Caliph of the Abbasid dynasty, established state-funded academies that translated Greek and other works of antiquity, thereby predating European universities by some three centuries. The Abbasid Muslim Empire brought about agricultural innovations in the 8th century that would not be seen in the West until late in the twelfth century. Al-Razi of Baghdad wrote numerous medical books in the tenth century which included groundbreaking health treatments which the West would not match for another six hundred years. In the sixteenth century Muslim Sultan Akbar of India was renowned for cross-cultural political appointments and enacting laws that embraced religious tolerance and protection of women and children. He was also one of the first commanders to insist on humane treatment of captured enemy troops.
Islam today can experience the same kind of enlightened golden age it has in the past if it, along with the West, stands up to the murderers and bullies who betray a great world religion by daring to speak wickedly in its name.
it’s just really hard to like these people.
We should leave now and on our way out carpet bomb that country starting with Karzai’s home. IMHO
Only in a Leftwing regime is crap like this tolerated.
Afghanistan is Obama’s war.
When the taliban behead him...I’ll remember his words.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.
Who else would fight for the Great Satan.
Hey Hamid. We’ll be sure to leave a couple of pulled pork sam’iches for you on our way out. Good luck stayin’ in power once we leave.
This is pure BS. Leave them and let them destroy each other. We aren’t going to change them. The don’t mention the thousands of Americans that died trying to bring them democracy....which was a waste of time, blood and money. We have lost to many of our sons and daughters over there for nothing.
“When the taliban behead him...Ill remember his words.”
That’s right; a few years after the Soviets withdrew, their puppet was hanged.
Okay, the Billions in payoffs to you from the U.S. Taxpayers ends tomorrow.
We'll be gone, and you're on your own.
Good luck wit dat......
Blow it out yer ass, Karzai.
After all the hundreds of millions of dollars he has stolen...
My thoughts although I think Karzum (I know) needs a personalized burst before security team departure.
What is that fat SOB (Minister of Defense) doing wearing a US Army CIB (wrong pocket)and Airborne slash?
My response to Karzai: It takes one to know one. You keep your terrorists off our land and we’ll be happy to stay out of your little piece of Hell on earth.
In ‘96, the Taliban castrated Najibullah, the Soviet puppet leader of ‘Stan and dragged him through the streets of Kabul. Then hanged him. ‘Ol Karzai better hope he has all the kids he wants!
Karzai alway struck me as sort of a Leon Pannetta clone. Total stooge, no real value, and then he turns on his masters? His days are numbered.
When the last NATO troops leave Karzai is a “dead man walking”.
Crazi is a documented Nutcase.
I see nothing wrong with leaving him to his own devices...right now. As he asks.
We need to send in a few cropduster-rigged aircraft loaded with pig blood, and spray the whole place, especially the poppy fields
Personally, I blame Øbongo.
To denounce it, he would have to disagree with the statement. He can't defend 'men of honor' because he doesn't believe they are men of honor.
Thank you, I was just fixing to say the very same thing.
“My response to Karzai: It takes one to know one. You keep your terrorists off our land and well be happy to stay out of your little piece of Hell on earth.”
You just wait. After we’ve pulled our forces out of Afghanistan the corrupt Karzai regime will announce revenge jihad on America and Afghan terrorists will start to infiltrate our porous borders with Mexico & Canada.
So, lock & load & practice. It’s coming. The beard & burka crowd aren’t done with us “infidels” yet. Not by a long shot.
Not if you're George Bush. He made Karzai the guest of honor at one of his SOTU speeches. Real big deal it was, celebrating democracy in Afghanistan.
I think you are absolutely right. Karzai looks on while Hillary negotiates with the Taliban--right.
Karzai is a corrupt scumbag. He’s lucky Sgt. Bales didn’t go after HIM.
We should leave him to the tender mercies of the Taliban.
I agree. Leave and give the Afganis with such a walloping nobody will be able to help them. Let them feel the sting of a wrathful United States. I’m serious. Worthless Saracen bastards.
I think they’ve already infiltrated our porous borders - Hezbollah the southern border after being flown in on unchecked flights from Iran to Venezuela, and Hamas coming through the northern border. I believe there are sleeper cells just waiting for the signal to begin the “Arab Spring” here in the USA. This is why Holder has been making sure our borders are wide open - so the “racist” American people would be surrounded by the time we drew up our arms to fight the invisible marauding invaders.
And my suspicion is that Obama chose the number of troops in Afghanistan to be too few to get the job done (so he could bleed our money, blood, and ammunition there) but enough that we won’t have enough here to protect our own country in a SHTF scenario - any of which could be the signal for the sleeper cells that surround us to do the final communist-Islamist coup that Soros and his puppet Obama have been working toward this whole time. (Soros has said that he is afraid the US would win the “War on Terror” because then America and capitalism would both be strong; Soros believes he is God and has to defeat those 2 evils that cause all the world’s problems - the US and capitalism.)
Possible SHTF scenarios include, from most mild to most extreme:
1. Black riots instigated by the unions,
2. another run on the bank like the one in Sept 2008 which I believe was done by Soros’ communist and Islamist allies; and
3. an EMP attack by Iran (possibly using a N Korean nuke if necessary) launching from Venezuela.
What I suspect would happen in the last 2 scenarios (which would be detonated if Obama thinks he would lose the election) is that the sleeper operatives would overrun Washington DC and the state capitols to take over the government and then fan out from there over the whole countryside.
I know this sounds sort of wacky, but I’ve got a lot of reasons to support why I believe these things. I’d love to be wrong. I guess we’ll see.
just a way to demoralize the troops some more. Our TOFUS is going to pull the plug on this operation. He's already turned down the blanket and basically killed recruiting patriots and men into the armed forces. ROE that make it bad to kill the enemy, gay men kissing on homecoming in front of kids, emboldened JAG officers that will make their bones with discrimination prosecutions in the armed forces and on and on.
I saw a commercial for the Marines and on one of the crates "Humanitarian Aid" was computer generated onto the box. funny as heck ... this big amphibious attack and that was on a box..hahahahahaha. pathetic.
” tender mercies of the Taliban”
Best post of the thread.
I’m sure Karzi has a good (insane) stash for a pleasant getaway....
I wouldn’t be surprised if Karzai is already quietly making deals with the Taliban to keep his seat (and his head) after the U.S. leaves, or is asked to leave. If he fails to achieve that, I’m betting more than a little bit of our nation’s treasure that’s been spent on building up Afghanistan has found its way into numbered accounts to ensure that Karzai has a rather comfortable life in exile.
The quality of posted threads lately has hit a new low in quality. Being unable to know such basics as what country is under discussion makes for total frustration to continue.
Life is too short.
Nation building was a huge mistake on many fronts.
We simply should have used “shock and awe” to take out our enemies as quickly as possible and left. And said we’ll return and do more of the same only on a larger scale if they continue to attempt to kill Americans.
Otherwise leave them to their hell hole. They like it.
These people will always support the side that is of their own blood... does not matter if that person killed one of them. They judge that as less than the death of one of theirs (no matter if Taliban or terrorist) than death by the hand of one of ours..EVEN IF THAT DEATH WAS TO SAVE ONE OF THEIRS!!!! Get the hell out of that piss hole! I remember Reagan presidency and watching the Russians wallowing in that quagmire. Never would have believed that the “oh so intelligentsia” in our government would have introduced us to this crap.
the guy gives Salauddin and Akbar as examples of the “nice Moslem” — firstly you have to really hunt to find some. Secondly, in the middle-east Saladin isn’t as revered as his successor who slaughtered Christians and Jews. And Akbar tried to create his own syncretic religion that wasn’t Islam.
2 tell them IN WRITING .. If any death or destruction to the USA comes from any area of their country, that area will be carpet bombed to complete oblivion. This WILL include women and children, poppy fields and goats.
3 if there is linked death and destruction in the USA, follow through unflinchingly with the carpet bombing and wait for the next target to reveal itself.
The result we are seeing is the result of fighting (losing) a politically correct war. You either have a war designed for VICTORY or you stay home. Doing neither gives you this result every time. How many examples do we need? Korea, Vietnam Nam, Iraq and now Afghanistan?
Why no barf alert?
Where the hell is America’s outrage at the killings of American troops by Afghan troops? Have they been threatened by the US govt to let it fade from memory?
Bring our troops home and stop the endless paycheck to that country.
All those countries only like and tolerate us because of the millions/billions we send them.
We need to really look at how many countries our money goes to. I’m sure someone by now has a long list of those.
Time for the “demons” to depart and leave the angels of Islam to rape and torure each other in peace.
