BOISE -- The candidate for Congress accused of threatening Boise store employees with a handgun was arraigned Monday in Ada County court. And much more information was revealed as to what exactly Cynthia Clinkingbeard is accused of doing. Clinkingbeard had filed to run against Rep. Raul Labrador in Idaho's 1st congressional district. In court Monday, Deputy Prosecutor Robert Bleazard said Clinkingbeard had gone to the Staples on Eagle Road and Chinden Boulevard Friday night to see about getting some posters for her campaign. Bleazard says Clinkingbeard was escorted to the copy center at the back of the store and began making strange comments to three employees about religion and politics. He says she told the employees they were going to meet God. A short time later, Clinkingbeard and the employees made their way to the front of the store where she was waiting for a ride. The prosecutor says that's when she pulled the gun. "She pulled out a 9mm handgun from a shoulder holster at around that time, and as the store manager went to open the door to let in the person that was there to pick her up, she pointed the weapon at the store manager's back and activated the laser sight that is on the gun," said Bleazard. "While she did this, she told the other employees that were standing nearby that if she were anywhere else she would quote, 'Cap him.'" Clinkingbeard's attorney didn't speak directly to the allegations, other than to say his client was under a hypomanic state at the time. He asked she be moved from jail custody to a secured mental health facility. The judge agreed to that request and set bond at $100,000. She was also ordered not to have contact with the three Staples' employees. Clinkingbeard is on the faculty at College of Western Idaho and Boise State University. Court testimony revealed that she was placed on leave from CWI two days before her arrest for erratic behavior. CWI would not provide details because it is a personnel issue. Both CWI and Boise State have barred Clinkingbeard from their campuses, pending the outcome of the case. Late Monday, BSU issued a statement saying Clinkingbeard has been terminated from her position.

A little different hair style and I'd say you have Sid Clinkingbeard.

“You’re right, and since they don’t state her party affiliation, she must be a Democrat.
If she were a republican/tea party member it would be in the headline.”

The author of the story is Kim Fields. Feel free to email her at

to let her know she missed that tiny little detail. LOL!

Imagine how angry she'd be at the lack of paragraphs! /kidding

I saw no party affiliation in that story so my working assumption, confirmed via search, is that Cindy Packingheat (aka Clinkingbeard) is a DemocRAT.

I believe her campaign slogan is "Vote for me or I'll cap you!"

How odd, no mention of party affiliation

Any time they don't mention it the person is a Democrat.

She did a couple of things right...shoulder holster and a laser sight.

Of course, her “stance” has already been discussed as being faulty.

She will probably sue Boise State, claiming that staring at a blue football field caused it....not only that but she will likely win.

Some doors are better left unopened.
