Rick Santorums campaign and super PAC have been outspent by a margin of 7 to 1 in the Illinois primary, with forces supporting Mitt Romney shelling out a total of about $3.7 million on the airwaves, according to a GOP media-buying source.
Romneys campaign has spent $1,117,704 million in Illinois while the super PAC Restore Our Future has put in $2.556,353 million.
The Santorum campaign spent a comparatively modest $219,961 and the super PAC backing Santorum, the Red White and Blue Fund, put in $312,150.
The gulf was even more enormous in the crucial, expensive Chicago media market. There, Romneys campaign spent $710,158 and his super PAC spent $1,367,125. The only pro-Santorum spending was $97,119 from the campaign, the same source said.
That amounts to a spending disparity of 21 to 1 in Romneys favor.

All the arguments that Santorum is losing ground in Illinois because he openly defends enforcing obscenity laws or isn't emphasizing the economic issues are nonsense. He is losing because he is being outspent 7-1.
Romney is literally buying the nomination.

This has been the standard we've seen in every major state--Florida, Ohio, Michigan, and now Illinois.
Yes, Romney is buying the nomination. And since he won't be able to outspend Obama, he's going to lose the election if he's the nominee--probably pretty badly.

If you were to look at a county by county election map, you’ll see that Romney is winning in Obama strongholds that that Romney can’t hope to win in the general election.

I've seen it. We're watching the leftist take-over of the Republican party happen right before our eyes.

The other bad news is that Romney has “tapped out” a lot of donors who can’t donate to him again during the general election.
And, Obama’s super PAC will have 4-8 times the money to spend than Romney’s super PAC, as Soros, Buffet, and other Dem billionares will donate lavishly to it.

Chump change compared to what Romney and his Super Pacs spent attacking Newt.

That may be partly true, but Santorum, who makes such repeatedly stupid blunders like saying he does not care about the economy, (IN ILLINOIS!) at the brunt of it all, clearly illustrates the magnitude of how incredibly pathetic Santorum is.
Only a blind man could not plainly see why Santorum has no chance of winning.

all that money being spent and the best he can buy is 40% of the GOP and half of them are voting out of fear of obama and the widely touted (Romeny) claim that only Romney can beat him
Romney could hang pork chops around his neck and still only get 35% of the dogs interested in following him
Yet the GOP persists in playing the “It’s his turn to try and fail” game
I am saying a little prayer today that the best man wins in the end

Without a doubt. He can beat Santorum but will be crushed by Obama. America is screwed. Prepare for 4 more years of Obama.

This Illinois citizen couldn't get to the polls fast enough to vote for Santorum. We had one too many negative Romney push polls.
Voting is light. We were only number 30 and 31 at 9:30 am. The number is usually much higher at our precinct.
