Baltimore - The leading voice of Roman Catholic bishops opposing a contraception mandate in the Obama administration's health care law was named Tuesday as the 16th archbishop of Baltimore, the nation's first diocese. Bishop William E. Lori, 60, comes from the Diocese of Bridgeport, Conn., and has testified before Congress several times in the past few months on a proposed measure to make religious employers cover contraception for their employees. Do did any of these Bishops oppose Obamacare in general or was it just the contraception mandate they opposed?

No idea, but since Obama has been attacking the church since day one, I doubt they have been real pleased. The announcement of this move is likely in response to the Obamatrons attacking the Vatican by saying there was dirty money there. That happened yesterday- and today this is announced.

Things are heating up.

Not only that, but Justices Scalia and Kennedy, the ones the Illegal is hoping will sustain ObamaCare, are both Catholics. Looks like each has a strong reason to dump ObamaCare. The more the Illegal fights his jihad against the Church, the deeper he digs his hole.

Yeah, I know they're not pleased but I'd like to know the Bishops' position on socialized medicine.

They often tend to lead toward "social justice". I'd like to know if they did in this instance.

Maybe the new Archbishop - soon to be a Cardinal(?)- William Lori will have a bit of influence over his Washington DC counterpart and help the development of a Catholic spine in the DC area.

Bishop Lori was a guest on “The World Over” with Raymond Arroyo on EWTN this past week, and it was replayed last evening at 9 pm (CDT). I think it will be on again during the next few days.

Yes, indeed, the more orthodox, traditional clerics are rising in the American Church. Here in Minnesota, the liberal leftists are still lamenting the appointment of John Nienstadt to the head of the Archdiocese of St. Paul/Minneapolis. After this was announced about 2 years ago, the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, promptly declared their independence of the archdiocese - in effect - declaring that they did not want to be under a more conservative, “true” Catholic, archbishop. At least they are honest about their liberalism. I would no longer consider this institution to be a Catholic university. I have not looked at their website to see whether they are still claiming to be Catholic.

Deceitful idiots!

Anybody who thinks Pope Benedict will back down from this skunk in the White House better rethink. This is in response to Friday’s announcement.
