Amen. I would strongly strongly prefer a better nominee (Newt specifically) but if its Mittens, I would vote for him over Obama any day.

“So Rush is going wobbly now?”
_____________

No, Rush always “pivots” to the GOP-E candidate as the nomination draws closer. I pointed that out over a month ago and predicted he would do this.

Rush is primarily a fiscal conservative. How often do you hear Rush extol the importance of the 2nd Amendment??? Barely at all and only in “offhand” tangential remarks. Rush talks profusely and in depth about sports far more than he even mentions the 2nd Amendment in passing. Most of his Constitutional commentary is limited to freedom of speech and/or political issues that relate to free market Capitalism.

Rush is about business and “the bottom line.” That's what he does and he's does it well! ...and that's not intended as a “slam;” it just “is what it is,” nothing more and nothing less.

My guess is that Rush will start to give more favorable treatment to Romney from here on out and we will hear less and less glowing commentary about Santorum. Of course Rush never gave much positive acclaim to Newt at any time and already barely mentions him. That will be how he treats Newt from here on out unless Newt somehow manages to regain momentum; in which case Rush will attempt to blunt that.

Rush's job from here on out will be to round up all the “strays” and head them back to the GOP-E corral; because the polls indicate that more and more Republicans believe that Romney is the best candidate to beat Obama; which they believe will be good for business; which Rush believes will be good for him.

Of course I, and most on FR, disagree w/the meme about the electability of Romney; never-the-less, a significant percentage of the Conservative base remains split on who they can support; hence the deadlock remains between Rick and Newt.

On the positive side, there is still some hope that Rick and Newt can somehow agree to partner together to stop Romney. We shall see.

Once coronated GOP winner, Mittens will run to the center like McLame and be trounced in Nov. RINOs suck.

He was giving his honest opinion of the speech. It was a good one. You want him not tell the truth about it?

Unless, he stands up for Conservatism by endorsing Rick Santorum, I’m not interested in listening.

He has been talking about silly and irrelevant stuff.

I would imagine he was being sarcastic about Romney..but as I said, Levin is the only talk show host who isn’t afraid to expose Mittens for the fraud that he is.
And he’s a Rick supporter.

Excellent post, OG.

The thing to listen for is when they say that we need to get Obambi out of office AT ALL COSTS. Translation: Support Mittens if it comes to that.

Face it, back during debate 1, 2, and 3, when we had a full stage of candidates, we were not discussing any of these three candidates. It was Cain vs. Perry 24/7 on FR and Newt and Santorum were in the single digits, and none of thought Romney would survive them all.

If Romney is the nominee, I just hopes he picks one helluva VP so we can have some unity once more on FR.

I always knew he would be ok with Mitt.

This is a great post. I think a lot of people who have been supporting romney for awhile, are just waiting for the right moment to come out with their support, so as to look spontaneous. This was rush's. Beck had one a couple weeks ago...

I have been convinced Rush supported romney for awhile now.

We are, have been played, for soooo long.

That's why Newt has to take it to the convention. For once, someone has to call the elites out, even if it is a failing proposition. ON TO TAMPA!

Kazan said: "Just as Arnold Schwarzenegger was supposed to be better than Grey Davis in California?"

I never found a reason to vote for Arnold. The reason to vote for Romney over Obama is that Romney will nominate by accident Supreme Court Justices who are far better than Kagan or Sotomayor; far, far better.

In fairness, Rush has always been a party person. He’s always said (even in the early 90s when I started watching him on tv) that he’d support the Republican nominee no matter what.

there is a thread, where PPP has Newt polling at 20% nationally, which is where I think the battlefield is for Newt now - I have given up on santorum supporters, and singing for the choir, I think there are whole bunch of nonaligned people out there, who respond well to Newt, and maybe it’s time to seek them out more and more.. I am trying to figure out more and better ways...

Rush has seen this rodeo. All he’s saying is if the man isn’t LYING, then this SOUNDS like conservatism DESPITE the man’s ENTIRE career as a Massachusetts moderate.

It’s a mess. We don’t have a candidate, and everyone knows it. The left wants to can Obama too, at least the one’s working for a living. They don’t have a candidate.

Both parties make this process feel like a conveyor belt. In fact, I feel like a cow in a chute headed for slaughter.

There’s no left or right anymore. That Utah facility that the NSA built was conceived under W. When Obama took a look at it, he accelerated its development.

I’m not sure there’s a dime’s worth of difference between the establishment parties.

If you want to start a real movement then stop paying the cable and satelite companies.

Okay, lovely sentiment, but unrealistic. You might as well tell me to cut off my internet, too, but then how will I ever hook up with other conservatives and keep lines of communication intact.

How does that really accomplish putting together a strictly conservative political group anyway? Give me a break!

So what options do we have? Santorum and Newt have blown it. Romney has more money and has been playing dirty.

Find out who is pulling his strings and work that angle maybe.

I am a strong Newt supporter, but the way Levin has supported and made public his support for Santorum has really increased my respect for him. He did it as a matter of principle, and he still tries to be fair to Newt sometimes - though I understand how that can be difficult for him. I don't really understand how he can support Santorum, but at least he is putting himself on the line, and being true to his convictions.

I think Rush is a coward, for saying what kind of credibility would he have if his candidate didn't win, and he had to support another. I imagine Levin will do just fine supporting the nominee, and no one will hold his support of Santorum against him. Get some newts, rush.

yeah, but he's built his following, in part, on hashing off the republican elites, and then he follows their lead, it is sort of schizoid of him. And in times like this, he could be a real force for getting a conservative the nomination, gag, even if it were Santorum. I mean, at a certain point, you need to step up and put it on the line, no?
