In Oklahoma, Obama Declares Pipeline Support
New York Times ^ | March 22, 2012 | By JACKIE CALMES

RIPLEY, Okla. — President Obama stood in a red-dirt field before acres of stacked pipeline pieces on Thursday to illustrate his support for expedited construction of the southern half of the controversial Keystone XL oil pipeline. But his public declaration of support for the project has pleased neither the industry and its Republican supporters nor environmentalists.

Environmentalists nationwide have rallied to oppose the entire Canada-to-Gulf Coast pipeline because its owner, TransCanada, wants to transport what environmental groups consider dirty oil from the tar sands of Alberta. The groups say such oil would hasten climate change, threaten spills and pollute air, water and wildlife.

“In expediting the southern portion of Keystone XL, President Obama is trying to have it both ways,” said Becky Bond, political director of Credo Action, part of a coalition of environmental groups that issued a joint statement of opposition.

“The president needs to prove that his initial rejection of Keystone XL wasn’t simply a ploy to placate the environmental voters who dared to hold him to his own rhetoric about the need for real leadership on climate and our fossil fuel dependence,” she said.

Seeking to turn the tables on his Republican critics, Mr. Obama, by stops like the one in Oklahoma, has tried to show that he is not hostile to oil and gas production, even as he charges that Republicans are hostile to clean-energy incentives.

Is that the one where he went to Harry Reid last week and told him to get the votes to stop construction? Just checking.

Rush played some of Obama’s comments in OK including the claim that we couldn’t produce enough oil even if we drilled on the White House lawn. It’s been quite a while since I was in OK, but I recall seeing an oil well pumping on the grounds of the State Capital. The locals seemed quite happy with it.

Anybody else see a pattern here:

Government intervention in the energy industry: FAIL

Government intervention in the medical industry: FAIL

Government intervention in agriculture: FAIL

Government intervention in education: FAIL

So now he’s a small government guy?

Will the MSM question his motives? FAIL!

How does the Current Occupant do it? I mean, the fantastic job of ventriloquism, by which he manages to look like his rectal orfice is doing all the talking.

Or maybe it really is doing the talking. But one would expect that organ would have more native good sense.

Well, isn’t that nice of Obummer.

The southern leg doesn’t need Federal Approval like the XL does. It doesn’t cross an international border!

A “flyover” state; he should have kept going till he reached a better audience: California. To think this president is so stupid as to think most people in Oklahoma give two shits, speaks volumes.

The is pure hypocrisy as Obama had nothing to do with approving this section of the pipeline. Meanwhile North Dakota oil has to be sent by truck and train to refineries.

They must be laughing their butts off in dee-cee at the jackazz-in-Chief...

“After rejecting and personally lobbying against Keystone XL and thousands of new jobs, the president plans to tout that he’s now interjecting himself on behalf of a routine permit that is normally handled by bureaucrats,” aides to the House speaker, John A. Boehner, Republican of Ohio, wrote in a blog post on Thursday. A Boehner spokesman, Brendan Buck, added, “This is like the governor holding a press conference to renew my driver’s license.”

Little bammy is very desperate if he is going THIS far.

Obama Administration Slams GOP for Forcing Keystone Approval

January 25, 2012

the Obama State Department is bashing House Republicans for forcing Keystone approval.

Dave Collyer, president of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers, said while Obama’s directive is a step in the right direction, it neglects the most vital leg of the pipeline for Canada.

“I think the important thing to keep in mind is that it doesn’t help move incremental volume out of Canada so we still need the northern leg of the pipeline to be built or some other alternative,” said Collyer.

Republicans said the moves were little more than a publicity stunt, arguing that it wouldn’t help Canadian company TransCanada build the pipeline any sooner. Construction is expected to begin in June with completion next year.

“The American people can’t afford more half-measures on energy from the president. No matter what he says, the reality is he killed the Keystone pipeline and the energy production and 20,000 jobs that went with it,” said Kirsten Kukowski, a Republican National Committee spokeswoman.

Obama defends handling of Keystone pipeline

CUSHING, Okla. (AP) — President Barack Obama firmly defended his record on oil drilling Thursday, ordering the government to fast-track an Oklahoma pipeline while accusing Congress of playing politics with a larger Canada-to-Gulf Coast project.

Deep in Republican oil country, Obama said lawmakers refused to give his administration enough time review the controversial 1,170-mile Keystone XL pipeline in order to ensure that it wouldn’t compromise the health and safety of people living in surrounding areas.

“Unfortunately, Congress decided they wanted their own timeline,” Obama said. “Not the company, not the experts, but members of Congress who decided this might be a fun political issue decided to try to intervene and make it impossible for us to make an informed decision.”

I don't see it that way. With the media's assistance his supporters swallow every piece of BS he feeds them hook, line and sinker.

The president’s point in Cushing is that while he won’t allow the top of the pipeline to go where the oil is, he has chosen not to block pipeline expansions at the southern end. This, of course, makes folks in the energy business furious. To have the president demanding credit for not blocking domestic pipeline upgrades is galling to them. They need executive blessing to cross the international border with Canada, but for domestic jobs they mostly just need Obama not to interfere and allow the permitting process to work as in the past.

Dictator Baby-Doc Barack is proving himself to be a blithering idiot.

Obama says what he thinks his audience wants to be true, and then expects us to believe his lie.
