Rick Santorum's latest attempt to use a Mitt Romney aide's "Etch-A-Sketch" remark against the Republican front-runner instead gave his rival a chance to fire back on Thursday, after Santorum seemed to say he'd rather see President Obama reelected than send Romney to the White House.
Speaking at an event in Texas, Santorum again made the case that Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom's comments Wednesday on CNN about a "reset" of the campaign if Romney clinched the nomination showed the former Massachusetts governor's efforts to appeal to conservatives were insincere.
"You win by giving people the opportunity to see a different vision for our country, not someone who's just going to be a little different than the person in there," Santorum told a crowd in San Antonio, according to NBC News. "If you're going to be a little different, we might as well stay with what we have instead of taking a risk with what may be the Etch-A-Sketch candidate of the future."

I won’t vote for Romney. I will stay home like I stayed home when all the other eastern liberals were crammed down our throats with party rules that let someone like romney that 70% of the party hates and we are supposed to vote for etch a sketch? I promise you I will turn him off at every inkling of his appearance. This guy is no republican conservative!! He is a phony and a fraud. Me a millions of others. We will punish this party again!!!
Ok.
See you in four years when we are both working for minimum wage for the EPA.
You can explain what a great decision you’ve made as we both make “green” road tiles in the small sweatshop for our Marxist masters to walk on.
Boy you will really show them Republicans who’s boss though!
You want to be able to campaign for Obama and so to put down anyone that won't vote for your Obama.
I don't believe nor listen to anything you liberals say.Leave me alone. I hate liberals. You have no effect and make no difference .Go stalk others. Although I hope you all get banned if you keep harassing others .
Oh man....
1) Daily EPA terrorist act
2) Daily NEA leftist act
3) Gutless, spineless Republican of the Day (RINO)
I would expose all the cretins.
You got one vote right here dude!
I agree, I don’t like Romney’s policies you stated. At least he would not be bowing to communists and trying to protect the muslim brotherhood.
How do you know that?
Just a hunch, he could do the same thing. Can’t really trust any politicians these days.
Rick Santorum wrote the conservative Senate version of the welfare reform law in 1995. He’s been out front on entitlement reform and supported every tax cut proposal and was always against Co2 cap-and-trade, opposed TARP, etc. Strong on immigration, and yes a so-con - so whats unconservative about being prolife profamily protaxcuts pro-less-regulation and for jobs?
It’s silly to define conservative so narrowly it excludes most conservative Republicans in office.
Strong on HSAs too.
We aren’t going to get even a reasonably hip nominee in 2012—it’s come down to Santorum or Romney, both squares (and I say that as someone who prefers Gingrich and voted for him in the South Carolina primary, but let’s be realistic now). I’ll take Santorum as a conservative. Romney never.
If we want a hip conservative in 2016, better start promoting Dana Loesch for president.
“If the GOP-e goes through and gives us Romney, they deserve to be on the ash heap of history, and a new political movement rises from the ashes, that would be better in the long-run.”
There IS a new political movement on the rise. It’s called FREEDOM, LIBERTY and LIMITED CONSTITUTIONAL GOVERNMENT. Ron Paul 2012. Why have conservatives become retarded in the last generation? When did we forget these principles? When did more government become a conservative principle?
