Santorum: Might as well have Obama over Romney
The Seattle Post-Intelligencer / The Associated Press ^ | Will Weissert

Posted on 03/22/2012 9:00:58 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Presidential candidate Rick Santorum on Thursday said Republicans should give President Barack Obama another term if Santorum isn't the GOP nominee and for a second day compared rival Mitt Romney to an Etch A Sketch toy.

Santorum reiterated an argument he has made before: The former Massachusetts governor is not conservative enough to offer voters a clear choice in the fall election and that only he can provide that contrast.

"You win by giving people a choice," Santorum said during a campaign stop in Texas....

Santorum just removed himself from any consideration.

Rick is still my guy, but that comment really has me wondering. I've said it before and I'll say it again: this election, getting rid of Obama TRUMPS all. If that means Romney, so be it. Romney may not be the most conservative candidate, but he's not an America-hating Marxist.

The etch-a-sketch comment was really dumb, but it wasn't made by Romney. This comment came straight from Santorum. Hmmmm.

How can he say that after seeing how much damage Obama has been doing even though he’s facing re-election? It will only be worse when he doesn’t have to face re-eleciton.

Time for Rick to go. He is a very poor sport. Would make a horrible President. Could not get anything done (except re-elect Snarlin Arlen Specter). I do not like Romney that much either, but Rick is being poisonous

A never-divorced, never-had-a-years-long-affair Gingrich (and one who wasn’t 50 pounds overweight) would be the best. Actually a Rick Perry who didn’t commit gaffe after gaffe might be the best.

But Rick and Mitt are both big-government types. We conservatives have no options left for a “win.”

All we can do at this point is to try to get rid of Obama and minimize the judicial-appointments and foreign-policy damage (presumably with Willard von Mandatecare).

Huge mistake-huge gaffe-DNC commercial ad now.

An endorsement for Obama. A Howard Dean moment, I am afraid.

“When we have such a loser for president, why are we about to put a dweeb like Romney up?”

-

Because the GOP establishment saw Sarah Palin as the same sort of threat to them, as she was to the GOP establishment in Alaska.

That is why.

Rick is right. I don't plan to vote for president if Romney is indeed the nominee. Tried that. November. 2008. Cannot get fired up about him and even if I could, millions of others would not.

No, time to work the downticket races, unless Newt can get something put together for the convention.

"I wonder if Gingrich has the balls to say the same thing?"

No. Ricky's "testosterone level" produces other infamous quotes like THIS:

(Uhhh...gee Ricky...please clarify again...which one of the quotes again are we supposed to be usin' this week??)

If we nominate Romney, Romney will lose.

On another thread, WhiskeyX's analysis is very good on Republican Primaries being manipulated by RINOs, and mind-numb Democrats following marching orders from the left.

Very well described!
Maybe it's time we got some DINOs to copy this evil plan against Democrats.
But who would soil their name and credibility, to do such an evil thing against the real evildoers? "

This was Santorum, imitating John McCain (remember him?) assuring us we had nothing to fear from an Obama win.

Santorum just jumped the shark.

Go away Santorum.

The Prime Directive is to send that disrespectful, Commie-loving, America-hating A-hole back to Chicago. To ignore that is to ignore how destructive and poisonous Obama really is. Nobody will convince me any of our candidates will be worse than Obama.

The Obama record:

Unemployment over 8% for 3.3 years making it the weakest recovery in 200 years. That number counts only active job seekers in previous 4 weeks. With unemployment lasting average 6+ months, U6 unemployment is 15%.

Gasoline prices double since inauguration.

Millions of homes foreclosed and continuing.

47 million now on food stamps.

$5 Trillion added to national debt in 4 years.

$6.5 Billion wasted on Solyndra and other green energy projects.

Obamacare escalating healthcare costs instead of the $2500 annual savings he promised.

Killed Keystone pipeline until after election.

Allowed Iran to continue building nuclear weapons.

Sending Muslim brotherhood in Egypt $1.5 Billion of tax payer money bypassing congress.

Wiped out GM bond & stockholders and bailout UAW union members.

Afghanistan is now the longest quagmire with no victory in sight.

Even Willard Romney will have trouble beating this record to the negative side.
