President Barack Obama weighed in on the "tragedy" of Trayvon Martin's death last week, saying it is "absolutely imperative" that all levels of government investigate "every aspect" of how the unarmed boy was shot.
"I can only imagine what these parents are going through," Obama said, adding "When I think about this boy I think about my own kids."
"I am glad that not only is the Justice Department is looking into this, but the Governor of the State of Florida has put together a task force [to investigate the case]," Obama said. Obama carefully avoided any discussion of George Zimmerman, the man who shot Martin, and has controversially avoided arrest under Florida's "Stand Your Ground" self-defense laws.
"My main message is to the parents: If I had a son he'd look like Trayvon. I think they are right to expect that all of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves."

I guess this is what I can’t figure out. Why is the liberal machine so bad at picking fights? Tawana Brawley,Duke rape,Trayvon. There are 300 million people in this country. If they even did some preliminary research they could find a white cop who raped a black girl, a lacross team that raped a black slut, a white Hispanic guy that killed a black guy.
Just this month a 20 yr old in Missisippi was sentenced for killing a black man by dragging him behind his pick up truck. Him and his friends went out with the intention of beating up black people that night. Why don’t they pick a fight they can win and use him as a lightning pole to convince us we are racists.
I wont even ask why they don’t care about the white who was doused with gasoline and set on fire by two blacks while the guy lighting said “You get what you deserve white boy”. That ones a non starter. There doesn’t seem to be much that would get white people to riot. We seem to either go to war or play nicely.
I called my local newspaper, spoke with the editor of The Columbus Dispatch, to ask if the murder and rape of 85 year old Mrs. Strait and the brutal beating of her husband, in Oklahoma by a 20 year old black man, was in the newpaper, that I must have missed it. He said he was not familiar with the story and no it was not in the Dispatch. I informed him that I read it in the Daily Mail out of the UK, which I found to be the real story here. I asked him why this was not a national story and he told me because it was not local and not unusual, it happens everyday. I asked him to tell me the difference between the Zimmerman/Martin murder and why it was getting national attention. He told me that Martin was unarmed and not doing anything wrong......I said well do you suppose Mr. and Mrs. Strait were armed and were doing something wrong and deserved to be murdered by this black thug. He then said, he was a busy man and needed to end the conversation. I suggest everyone call their local newspapers and have a similiar conversation.

Obama is the black president for the black folks......he doesn’t give a rat’s rear end for white folks. He always has to weigh in when a black is involved ie, the black Harvard professor and the white cop,hangin’ with Oprah and all the black NBA stars.

That said Mr. President, what would you say if the boy didn't look like you, a couple shades paler? You would say nothing, like you did when that white kid was set on fire by two black kids in Kansas.

I have not been following this story until this morning, and have read some. He was suspended for being tardy to class 5 time, not for violence.
I have not been following this story, but I have read some articles this morning. He was by no means 200 lbs. IIRC he was 140 lbs, tall and lanky, nicknamed something like “Slim.” As far as the incident, I don’t really know exactly what happened, so far I’ve only read some stories about his behavior and suspension (for tardiness), and that he was never in any trouble for violence. But all I know is what was reported. Judging by the pictures, there’s no way that kid was 200 lbs, or I’d eat my laptop.
It’s a sad fact, but racism still exists in this country. Obama is trying to compound that factor and increase it, but it exists, none the less. Now, I have no idea whether or not that was a factor in this case, but there’s a large section of society that questions why a person of such and such race is in a place they “don’t belong.”
(Note, I don’t mean that the original poster to whom you replied has that mentality, there’s no evidence of that, but if they got their facts from someone that did, it would add to the perception that he shouldn’t have been there then. I myself have been unduly questioned about why I was walking through a neighborhood because I didn’t fit the color scheme—by more than one ethnic group—idiocy is not color specific and exists everywhere.)
Especially if they dress themselves up like a thug.
That’s not racism, that’s stereotyping. And stereotyping is a natural and very good thing. But dressing like what you call a “thug” isn’t necessarily suspicious (maybe if you live in the rural boondocks). “Thug” is not race specific, unless you’re trying to make it out to be. Then, of course, you’d just be ignorant, not necessarily malicious.
We’ll find out what the facts in this case are in due time (well, we’ll NEVER know the whole story), but real “thugs” travel in packs. A lot of people in life are different from you. That doesn’t necessarily mean they’re up to no good. I realize it’s popular to overreact when it feels good, but that doesn’t make people right. In any event, we’ll find out more in the coming weeks. I agree. Like I said, I don’t know all the facts of what happened that night, but I am curious about anything you may be able to provide to me (details, I mean). Are you saying that wearing a hoodie was being dressed like a thug, or something else. I haven’t seen a description of what he was wearing. The picture up thread is not the same kid, but a different kid with the same name, according to other threads, like this one:

Like I said, I’m interested in any information you might have, I’ll be going through the other threads this weekend. No matter the outcome in this case, Obama IS going to try to incite ethnic groups to angst with one another (he already has been), it is going to be very unfortunate if he’s able to use this incident in that fashion (no one benefits from a race war/riots, except the people trying to collapse the system “Piven style.”). That’s why it’s important that we get all the facts to fight the misinformation. Thanks for your help, in advance.
Do you know why hoodies were adopted by gangstas? Makes it easier to conceal weapons....and with the glamorization of the gangsta lifestyle by the media, even “non-gangstas” have adopted it, because they think it makes them look cool......but to a non-informed person, it still makes them look threatening.....why take a chance in an area, where you know people will be suspicious?
It was quite enlightening doing a search on “gang hand signals” and seeing some information for parents that they should be alert if their kid is practicing them in front of a mirror or taking pictures of them. Also, if their child’s school work is declining. Seems to me being suspended for repeated tardiness would be related to that. Of course this is pure speculation but certainly suspicious that he’s met at least 2 criteria parents are warned about regarding their children and gangs. Presents a little different picture than the media’s “poor, little, 17 year old, black boy.”
If Barry had a son, he’d look like Samwell, the guy who did the “What What (In The Butt)” video.
