I wonder how many of these companies have network security policies which explicitly forbid sharing passwords. Mine does.

‘I said on that earlier post that any company that did this would eventually end up on the wrong end of a lawsuit.”

Yes, you did.

“One extremely belligerent Freeper said employers could do whatever they wanted. Now it is clear they can't.”

Crystal clear.

“Once this practice became public knowledge it was only a matter of time before the gang in HR learned which side of the power game they were actually on.”

They're as disposable as a Pampers after a jar of veggies.

Whoops! I had a post removed. What I said was true but it must have violated something. I had to happen sometime. I guess I am a veteran now:)

My cousin had to agree to a GPS tracking install in his PERSONAL truck if he wanted to keep his job. It cannot be turned, it was installed conecting to the engine or electrical system in the vehicle (not sure how)

It was part of a new company policy and everyone in his company had to do it that drives on company time whether in their own vehicle or not. He does drive for work, but why should they be able to have this info 24/7.
He is not happy about it but apparantly it is perfectly legal.

I don’t know about alcohol, but FR would probably be regarded as a “Social Network” by HR if they knew about it.

Yes, I remember reading this on the other thread.

Might be time for your cousin to look for a new job, ‘cause the one he has now sucks.

They are losing 34,000 subscribers/month. Look for that to accelerate as having a FB page becomes like plastering your diary on a billboard on Times Square.

I just find it unbelievable that they could require this on a personal vehicle.

If it was a company owned vehicle that would be a different story.

Hubby and I always wanted to live in a cave...when we purchased our farm, it became our cave, no more network TV, no cable, no satellite, (of course they were not invented yet) but life was much nicer than getting every celebrity's opinion of the world...and the lefty networks. Lots of outdoor stuff to do, goats, redoing old barns for goats, bringing in a couple of thousand bales of hay, taking care of the gardens, collecting eggs, fixing fences, learning to drive a tractor, knowing what a PTO was, digging post holes for new fencing....no cell phones, it was heaven on earth..

Its amazing how many people seem to be afraid of solitude, 1/2 the people in the grocery store are talking on cell phones....need to tell the world about our day and everytime we take a bath, twitter, facebook, cell phones, never alone to enjoy being yourself...to think etc.

Love free republic, but that's all the news I need to know and don't have to read every post, just those that are interesting...have a few special friends on FR and gain a few more every month. Great sense of humor on this forum, lots of laughs, and an excellent source of information if you have a special problem and need advice....

A very selective cave, love it....and the fire keeps me toasty warm....:O)

FaceBook can't allow employers finding out about you direcly for themselves - for free.

The FB business model is all about FB making money from selling your personal information - forever!!

Touche! I never thought of it that way. “Grist for the mill”. No, I’m not quitting. I check my machine every day. Some “cookies” are okay, but one must be careful and discerning.
