President Obama kicked his PR campaign on gas prices into a higher gear Wednesday, giving what is believed to be the first ever presidential interview to AAA.
I understand what folks are going through because it wasnt that long ago that I was having to fill up my gas tank and drive to work, shuttle the kids back and forth to school or events, and it takes a big bite out of folks paychecks, Obama told the motorist group, which has 53 million members.
The interview, which appears online and in AAA publications today, is the latest indication that Obama is worried about rising gas prices and their political impact headed into the summer and fall.

The president also recalls his former membership in AAA and driving his first car, his grandfathers 1970s Ford Granada.
The Ford Granada was not the peak of Detroit engineering, he said. It rattled and it shook, and I dont think the girls were particularly impressed when I came to pick them up in a Ford Granada, he said. But you know what? It moved and so I have fond memories of the fact that it got me to where I needed to go. Thats about all I can say about the Ford Granada.

That was during the time of my life when the girls were not particularly impressed when I came to pick them ...
Yet another interview replete with references to self. The term narcissist doesn’t even begin to describe his inflated sense of self importance.
Where did he work again?
Do 'community organizers' get paychecks?
who pays them?
or the rides in the back of a Land Rover in Kenya ,the heat ,the dust
Not so flattering references to Ford....Hmmm
Perhaps Ford should be allowed to continue their advertising that says they did not take a government handout. (The WH asked them to stop.)
Is there nothing this guy wont lie about?
I am so done with this president. I’m to the point that I don’t care if Ron Paul gets the nomination AB0. I’m at the point where everytime he opens his mouth I scream, “You’re such an a$$!!!” at the radio. The latest is on the shooting in Fla. Already he’s trying to politicize it the same way he did with Gabby Gifford. Now you have Calypso Louie and Rev. Al “9-1-1” Sharpton of Crown Heights riot fame stirring up trouble.
He’s always more than happy to talk about himself EXCEPT when it comes to his birth certificate, academic history, foreign travel or his shady Chicago associations.
How old are his girls? He was driving a 1970 Ford Granada 3yrs ago? In Chicago’s tawniest neighborhood? BS!!
I’ve never heard of girls referred to in his past. Is that something new? Funny no ex-girlfriends are ever mentioned.
“Yeah, blame it on the car.”
Good post! President Scapegoat always blames someone or something for his own problems, never himself.
Ford Granada production years 1975-1982 He cant tell the truth about ANYTHING.
If AAA is supporting the Kenyan Marxist, I’m canceling my membership.
I’m on the verge of doing that just for giving the narcissistic marxist a venue to spew his filthy lies.
“Ah, the Alaskan Innuit Olympics. That remind me of the time
I .. and also I ... then I ... and they all tossed me in the air.”
Suck it up you asshat Obama, I drove a 12 yo Chrysler with “Fluid Drive” which was not a chic magnet either. Then again, I was looking for girls.
Ford Granada production years 1975-1982 He cant tell the truth about ANYTHING.
He needs to go back for more briefings on the “Life Barack Obama”
You can always tell when Obama thinks his audience is especially stupid—He keeps saying “folks.”
This little beauty has 180,000 miles and still going strong.

FUBO
“Kin I git me a-huntin’ licesnes round hera?”
The man is a pathological liar. Everything he says is a lie. I know it sounds crazy. I know. But I am still not convinced that Michelle is his actual wife, or that those girls are really his daughters.
I do not believe one single thing about this guy.
Wow, maybe there is sdomething here....I lived with an avowed communist woman for about 10 years. It really didnt bother me, I always looked at her politics in a “bless her heart” sort of way. She also drove a 1979 4 door sedan Granada. Had the emblem gold plated and on the bedroom wall while the car rotted and crept its way to the junkyard.
I have read that the Mooch was close to leaving him because he was NEVER home among various other things I’m sure. I’m willing to bet he NEVER took or picked up those girls from anywhere.

You reminded me of the time he was pinning the Medal of Honor on a returning soldier and the only thing he could think of to say was something along the lines of...”this reminds me of the time *I* got the Nobel Peace Prize...” (subtext: this aint nothing. i’ve done better)
It was something like that. He was trying to distract from the soldier and bring everything back to himself, as he always does. If he could, I'm sure he would award himself the Medal of Honor. And the worst part is, he would believe it.
If he were Kim-jung-il, no one would know the difference. Obama is just like all the crazy despots all throughout history. He is just like them in every way.
I call B.S. Where is the picture of a young obama proudly posing in front of his car. Isn’t that what young guys do? I’ll bet he doesn’t even have a drivers license. You need proper I’d to get one of those. Only thing I’ve ever seen him drive is a golf cart.
That was my first thought, too. On the other hand, the Granada was a horrible car.
My Dad bought one new in '76 (I think) and it was pretty to my 23 year old eyes. He constantly bragged that he'd paid $5000 which was what a Lincoln cost in the fifties.
Dear old Dad wasn't really aware that the dollar was collapsing or that, unfortunately, so was the Granada. Nonetheless, Obama should not have disparaged Ford.
After all, Dad and I, both forgave Ford for the Granada and stayed loyal Ford owners all our lives.
The American small cars of the ‘70s and ‘80s were JUNK! I had a Ford Escort that blew a gasket and a Chevette that developed a hole in the floor — a problem so common it was called Chevette Floor Cancer. They’re better now. My Focus is wonderful. But Detroit lost an entire generation to the Japanese with cars like the Granada.
He didn’t mention driving his brand new Edsel?
Tell us more about these girls Obama, name some names.
We’d like to hear all about it.
Heck, try a 1963 Volvo 544... the mid-century equivalent of the Nissan Cube!
I’m trying to understand the time line here,
this must have been in Hawaii? And later than
1975?
Ok, he was born in 61 so if he was 16, that would
mean it was 1977 or later. Right?
I’m assuming 16 for minimum driving license? Hawaii?
He must have been in High School?
The timeline leads to triple face-palm. The “girls” were ashamed he came to pick them up in it?? The thing would have had to have been at least 20 years old at the time, and it would have been just a few pieces of rust on the road with the salt used in Chicago at least 10 years before the oldest girl was born!
Sure, he would have been the “Uncle Buck” in the family, the effete jerk.
Oh, I’m confused. The “girls” of which he speaks are all those girlfriends from his high school days...the ones we never hear about. My bad.
Good Grief. I want to say more.... really I do.
My brother-in-law still drives his '94 Explorer. He's had good luck with his. We're like that, though. I won't give up my '97 F-250, either. My biggest gripe with it is that all my cassette tapes have worn out.
Let me paraphrase this and see if it sounds familiar. "I feel your pain."
Remember those words spoken by Bubba Clinton?? That's where O-idiot got them and they are equally as heartfelt as when Bubba uttered them.
Comrade Barack’s first car was a Trabant.
It might depend on the time of year it was built,
I always heard you didn’t want one made during deer
season as the managers had to fill in the line during
that time.
Ok, so Obama is complaining about having to pick up
girls in a 2 year old car? Wuss.
I agree -- roll-of-the-dice.
Especially in bro-in-law's [Explorer] case. The '97 F series, though, was a pretty big advance over the previous. And I had been a '96 owner for years.
“Is there nothing this guy wont lie about?”
Let me preface this by noting that I have had a number of really good Ford cars and trucks.
But to be fair, the 70s Granada was one of THE biggest pieces of crap ever put on the American road.
I always liked that body style.
Recently the venerable 2003 Ranger has been traded in for a Toyota Tacoma. At the last maintenance it was found that all the bushings in the front end as well as the tie rod ends were all worn out. It cost more to fix than I thought it was worth.
A few years ago I swapped one worn steering arm.
For a jalopy and diamond (maybe) in the rough, this rescued Willys might actually get going in earnest this year.

Personally I believe they should run a whole series of commericals like that. All the time. Forever. That commercial was unscripted and the people just came out and said it on their own. Ford should start going further and just make commercials flat-out saying this and it ought to be in every commerical they run for the rest of the company’s life.

For an F150 that’s just barely broken in.
