A Republican congressman disenchanted with his party's stance on women's issues urged attendees at a rally to give money to Democrats to send a message to the GOP.
"I think these are very precarious times for women, it seems. So many of your rights are under assault," Rep. Richard Hanna (R-N.Y.) told a crowd at a rally in Washington, D.C., for the Equal Rights Amendment, according to the Huffington Post. "I'll tell you this: Contribute your money to people who speak out on your behalf, because the other side my side has a lot of it. And you need to send your own message. You need to remind people that you vote, you matter, and that they can't succeed without your help."
Hanna, who is pro-choice, went on to encourage women to become more vocal on issues that were important to them. Hanna was the only Republican congressman at the rally.

Later she said that her only connection to the Republican party is her voter registration card.
Well lady Hanna I suggest you GTF out of the republican party and go hang with your pansy commie friends... be a real woman and do the right thing...
And when we elect Republicans to the Congress we can turn this all around I am continuously told. LOL!
Pandering fool....nothing more than self interest. Apparently he’s forgotten how Dems have treated women See, e.g. Kennedys, Clinton, Spitzer, der Weinerschnitzel
This representative should be shot, and her house burned to the ground, and her husband, and kids should be shot when they run out of the burning house....
/ alec baldwin imitation>
Now the whine is “too few elected women in this country compared to other countries.” YEAH? Would those complainers vote for Palin, Bachman Haley, Condoleeza Rice, Coulter, Ingraham, Malkin, Whitman, over Obama? No. I bet not. When they say “women” they don’t mean ALL women.
What a Dick!(Hanna)
Husband shmuzband, he is still a dickwad. Also, can you be sure he dose not have one?
Uh, wouldn’t that include his opponent?
The Republican who voted to keep the light-bulb ban. Jerk!
Bet he is a democrat running in a mostly republican area. Thats what Bloomy did to get elected mayor of NYC. Followed (whats his name) as mayor....old age name block...Oh yea, it just came to mind, Rudy G....
He's a she. Easy mistake since they call him "Hanna". Whatever he is, the infiltrator needs to be out.
Show some compassion.
Donate your surplus condoms to the DNC for distribution to Georgetown college girls.
What makes me think that Richard Hanna is a tool for Romney? If he is such a cheerleader for baby-killing, he would fit right in to the Mittwit’s cabinet. What part of New York State does this dimwit run in?
There, fixed it.
Name one, ya RINO eunuch.
Oneida County (Utica). This RINO treasure was a Huntsman supporter.
referring to him as a woman, probably even a liberal woman, was intentional on my part.
Richard Hanna is by far the most pro-abortion Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives—he even supports taxpayer funding of abortions. It is an abomination that such a liberal RINO could be representing an Upstate New York district that voted for Bush, McCain and Romney. Fortunately, it appears that Hanna finally will face a top-tier primary opponent, and she is a pro-life conservative state assemblywoman:
Assemblywoman Tenney would be a huge improvement over Hanna, and she’ll add to the ranks of pro-life women in Congress (she has a 100% rating from New York Right to Life). This will be this year’s most important NY primary election for pro-lifers and conservatives in general.
Hanna might as well switch parties. I hope Assemblywoman Tenney is able to take him out.
The GOP needs to kick Hanna out of the party. No big loss, he’s obviously a democrat.
That’s good to hear.
>> Hanna, who is pro-choice
If Hanna supports killing nascent, human life, then he’s a scumbag.
A woman’s liberty is not defined by having the right to kill nascent, human life.
And when they say “women’s Issues” they don’t mean MY issues. Course by “women” they don’t necessarily mean the female sex.
Maybe we can get Wendy Davis to endorse Hanna...
Excellent! I was afraid Hanna would not get a real challenger, a couple of nobodies were already in the race.
Hanna’s disgusting and traitorous comments peg him as a potential party switcher. Look for him to pull a Dede Scuzzobama and endorse the rat, should he lose.
What RAT? None has filed yet; the deadline is April 10.
I think that Hanna will get some other ballot line even if he loses the GOP primary (he always gets the Independence Party line), so if no Democrat runs it will be Tenney on the GOP and Conservative lines and Hanna on the Independence line, with liberals and Democrats (who will be turning out for Cuomo) all flocking to Hanna, so Hanna could win merely by getting a bit of the indie and/or GOP vote. Thus, we need to make sure that someone runs as a Democrat, and that the Working Families Party nominates the Democrat or some other liberal. It can’t be that difficult to get on the ballot as a Democrat—we just need someone to do it (even if he or she is not a real Democrat).
Why not, they share a platform.
This jagoff needs the Joe Schwarz treatment.
I’ve been more indulgent than many when it comes to RINO’s in marginal and liberal-leaning districts. But Hanna has gone too far. If I lived in upstate New York, I’d support a primary against him.
He should be booted from the party
Hanna sits in one of the most Republican districts in Upstate New York, carried by Bush, McCain and Romney. There is absolutely no reason why we should countenance a pro-abortion Representative in such a district, particularly one so adamantly and inflexibly pro-abortion (even supporting taxpayer funding of abortion despite claiming to be a “fiscal conservative”).
Check this out, there’s a new thread re: Tenney’s challenge of the execrable Richard Hanna: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3133661/posts
If you re-read my post #29 from a month ago, you’d see that I feared that, if no Democrat filed to run in NY-22, RINO Hanna might be able to win reelection even if Tenney beats him in the GOP primary by getting on the general-election ballot as the Independence Party nominee. Well, Hanna appears to have nabbed the Independence Party nomination; and the filing deadline is today, and as of yesterday no one had filed to run as a Democrat.
If no Democrat gets on the general-election ballot, I think that Hanna would be the odds-on favorite to win the general even if he loses the GOP primary, since Democrats will vote for him. Are conservatives in the NY-22 so clueless that they let that happen instead of getting some random dude to file to ruin as a Democrat (and then run anti-Hanna commercials)?
This is even more reason to push for Tenney to win the primary. There are fears of a repeat of the election of Bill Owens, but I’m willing to chance it. Auh2orepublican is correct that some random Democrat needs to be paid off to get on the ballot and also have someone from the Liberal Party as well.
The Liberal Party folded after the 2002 elections (when it nominated Andrew Cuomo, who lost the Dem primary and got only like 2% of the vote in the general). The Working Families Party is the liberal third-party nowadays.
But the filing deadline was today, so if a Democrat didn’t file by now I fear that it’s too late.
“Are conservatives in the NY-22 so clueless ...”
Yes. Not just in 22, but throughout the northeast.
Not in your neck of the woods—there’s at least one intelligent, hard-working conservative there who would have gathered the necessary signatures to place a Democrat on the ballot.
The Liberals used to cross-nominate liberal Republicans sometimes. Does Working Families do likewise? There are pro-union RINO douchebags in the state they might like.
Anyway, not good. We need a rat to run for that seat!! It would be sickening to see Hanna reelected on the Independence line.
Pete you should have moved there and filed as a democrat!
I don’t think that I’ve ever seen a Republican cross-endorsed by Working Families. You’re right about the Liberal Party, though; they often endorsed RINOs such as Jacob Javits (his retention of the Liberal Party line in the 1980 general helped D’Amato beat Holtzman), Sherry Boehlert (who represented the same area as Hanna and may have been even more pro-abortion than him, if that’s possible) and Bill Green. Likewise, the Conservative Party used to cross-endorse pro-life Democrats from liberal districts, such as Albany’s Michael McNulty and (IIRC) Buffalo’s John LaFalce.
Where does the GOP find retards like this? His IQ must be four.
Oh, it’s female. Even more disturbing. And even more stupid.
Umm, Richard Hanna is not a female.
In honor of your screen name, here’s a terrific performance of Die Fledermaus, conducted by the incomparable Carlos Kleiber: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqJK_s7I9EY
“I dont think that Ive ever seen a Republican cross-endorsed by Working Families.”
I can think of one. Uber-RINO Dede Scozzafava won its endorsements in her state Assembly campaigns. I don’t remember if she won it when she ran for Congress.
Oh, God, really? Well, Scozzafava is a DIABLO, not a RINO, so she doesn’t really count.
got some press in national Review.
the CT special election
I think people are dissatisfied with the Malloy administration, Zawistowski told reporters, referring to the liberal agenda of Democratic governor Dannel Malloy. She said the issues that found resonance in her campaign were scaling back gas taxes, reinstating the sales-tax exemption on clothing and over-the-counter, nonprescription medication, as well as ending the $250 annual business-entity tax.
Thanx for that hopeful NRO article. I tweeted it.
