Then there’s the Fed taxes - Environmental stuff - the cut to the distributor-manufacturer, etc.

Don't forget the guy who hauls it in, (and he has to buy fuel, too).

Note to Kaslin: While I support 100% the idea that Obama’s policies have temporarily had an affect (not as large as it seems when we acknowledge “temporary”) on the LONG RANGE U.S. domestic production of fossil fuels - “LONG RANGE” - please decribe the oil that would now wind up being delivered - NOW - AND REFINED DOMESTICALLY - in quantities, NOW and at a production cost, that would alter domestic gasoline prices NOW.

I understand and agree perfectly with the argument that our domestic energy industry policies under Obama are headed in the wrong direction and will IN THE LONG RUN raise, not lower domestic retail gasoline prices.

As much as I’d love to put Obama on the defense for any reason, I don’t know that current domestic engery policies are responsible for our immediate gasoline prices, anymore than they were under G.W. Bush.

It’s a great populist idea at the moment, just as it was one summer under Bush’s term when Californi gas prices hit $4.000. I just don’t think the immediate price situation is due to our president’s, even when our long term situation might definitely be.

I think it should be enough for the GOP to argue NOT that Obama has caused the $4.00 gas prices, but that his policies are not going produce lower prices in the long run; that his policies are not a long run solution.
