Trayvon Martin Killing: Friend Tells ABC News Howls on 911 Tapes Belong to Zimmerman, Not Martin

A friend of George Zimmerman, the man who shot unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Fla., told ABC News today that the voice heard howling on the tape of a 911 call was Zimmerman's, not the teen's.

The man, a black friend of the family who spoke to Zimmerman tonight, told ABC News that Zimmerman was weeping for days after the shooting, which sparked protests across the country, and he insisted that Zimmerman, who is Hispanic, is not a racist.

"We wanted to come forward because allegations of racism just aren't true. His friends speak highly of him," said attorney Greg Sonner, who has been representing Zimmerman for two weeks.

Zimmerman's friend said that the howls heard on the 911 call, which helped galvanize the nation against Zimmerman, in fact belonged to Zimmerman, not Martin.

A witness who saw Martin on top of Zimmerman told ABC News the same: the pleas for help were Zimmerman's.

Being taken in to custody and released after making a statement is a far cry from being arrested. The Chief of Police said in a statement that there was no legal basis for Zimmerman to be arrested, and that's why he was not.

And the author of that "stand your ground" law says? It doesn't apply. The authors of Florida's controversial "stand your ground" self-defense law say George Zimmerman should probably be arrested for shooting Trayvon Martin, reports the Miami Herald. "He has no protection under my law," former Sen. Durell Peaden told the newspaper. "The guy lost his defense right then," Peaden told the Miami Herald. "When he said 'I'm following him,' he lost his defense." Rep. Dennis Baxley, Peaden's co-sponsor in the Florida House, agrees with his former colleague, telling the newspaper that the law does not license neighborhood watch or others who feel "like they have the authority to pursue and confront people. That is aggravating an incident right there." Both co-sponsors told the newspaper, however, that they did not think the law needed to be re-examined.

"If you want to pass something, pass something that limits their ability to pursue and confront people," Baxley said. "It's about crime watch," he said. "What are the limitations of crime watch? Are you allowed to jump out and follow people and confront them? What do you think is going to happen? That's where it starts."

Wny don’t you ask your media

My media?

I was asking about gaijin's media, not mine. I'm sure he has an authoritative response.

Perhaps you should ask the Miami Herald why the photo of him in his hoodie was altered to make him lighter skinned.

I think you need to show us the respective hoodie pictures, establish where each came from, and in what sequence. And you also need to explain the significance of the albedo delta you allege.

Yes, I understand that.

What is disturbing to me is that the flippant statement, repeated in most media accounts, that "Zimmerman was not arrested" gives the impression that police brushed off their hands, gave Zimmerman a friendly wave, and everybody called it a night. That is not what happened, and I think if most casual followers of the story were aware that he was cuffed and driven downtown while other officers and paramedics tried to revive Martin, they might have a different impression of that evening's events.

The police took him into custody, took away his gun (and still have it, contrary to many media reports,) roped off the scene for evidence collection, canvassed the neighborhood and took witness statements that night and in subsequent days, and have conducted lab work on physical evidence (not yet released to the public.)

"He was not arrested" has become some sort of shorthand for "the police didn't care why the black kid was dead and just took the white guy's word for it."

I maintain a healthy skepticism about law enforcement and official reports, but I also respect the fact that, despite mistakes, most of them try to do a good job, and I just haven't seen any evidence that they did not try to do that here.

"A pretty good source: the Sanford Police."

And those sources are disseminated. Danke

If this turns out to be self defense, the media will just make this whole thing disappear. They won’t mention it anymore, kind of like they stopped talking about Sandra Fluke, they saw that her 15 min were up and had to move on to something else to divert attention from Obama’s failed policies. Zimmerman has been treated horribly, Richard Jewel style, maybe even worse then that. The death threats, the celebrities tweeting asking for this guy’s head on a platter. Once its proven that Zimmerman acted in self defense and that Martin was the aggressor, maybe they will stop showing pics of Martin as a 12 year old boy all cute and cuddly and show him in the present day, the way he REALLY looked, a 6’2 inch football player who was beating the holy hell out of Zimmerman

I don't even know if that's the same kid in the other photo. Lighting and shadow distorts everything.

That aside, Mr. Martin certainly had a face similar to George Foreman.

I would tell them good luck suing the police department. They won’t get anything out of them either.

I’ve been reading that it is from a FB account belonging to a Trayvon Martin but that the FB account has been scrubbed now.

We know that Martin looked different from the pic the media and all the race baiters have been floating around. That pic is only missing a little halo and wings. But the kid was now 17 years old and anyone who has raised kids know they morph during that time. I’m not seeing a whole lot of similar features but like I said, they literally morph during these years.

I’d sure like to know for sure and yes, a certain judgement can be made about ‘looks’. Just ask the bloods and crypts in LA.

You have evidently seen pictures I have not. I don’t doubt that there are more that may bear a greater resemblance to Martin that may present him in a different light.

I certainly don’t doubt you, but how did you see them?

Yet there are those, including Zimmerman’s attorney and the author of the law, who say this does not qualify as a “stand your ground” case. It is a case of self defense.

No, one is white and one is a female version of Ricky Ricardo. The amazing thing is, they really didn't witness anything. They've been all over the news and their story keeps changing. Basically they say they didn't hear a fight, they did hear a child crying or whining, they heard a shot and the crying stopped- therefore it had to be Trayvon crying because Zimmerman would have continued crying since he was still alive. They went outside and saw Zimmerman and asked him what happened. he told them to call the cops. Later one of them claimed Trayvon was lying face down and Zimmerman was straddling him. They're insistent Zimmerman is guilty because...they believe he is guilty. They obviously have an agenda. Watch this. It's unbelievable

I agree. This is far different than what is being portrayed in the msm. I’ll go out on a limb here and say “I don’t know what happened and I’ll wait for the facts” and I can also see 2 non-bad guys making slightly bad decisions and it snowballing out of control or something else entirely.
The only thing that I am sure of is that this is being used by the administration and the left to foment racial discord and possibly violence in hopes of influencing the Nov election.

I did find the first and third pic by searching including his middle name (or nickname). I wanted to see what he really looked like vs what the Stormfront nazis and others with an illegitimate agenda were alleging he looked like.

I also found this photobucket pic, under the userid trayvonslimmmartin:

Would if I could.

Freerepublic took down the thread that contained the link to the Herald’s story on the doctored hoodie photo.

And by “your media” I mean the one that has apparently pushed you into saying-

“Alas, Martin was not up to snuff on his situational awareness and self-defense skills. Perhaps, if he had been, he’d be still alive, and the village would be short an idiot, shot by his own gun!”

That was a really messed up thing to say, man.

But setting that aside, don’t you find it the least bit odd that the only pictures of Martin being shown are of him as a boy?

Do you honestly believe that the boy shown in those pictures took down a 200lbs grown man, mounted him and held the mount solidy enough to smash his face and head, make him scream for help, and then resort to fatally shooting him?

Do you honestly believe that a adult 28 year old male could not sweep that boy in a jersey out of the mount?

You are aware that Martin had a facebook page, right? Do you suppose that the only pics on that page were the football jersey pics of him as a kid? Why have the pics on his facebook page been removed?

I’m sorry, but I am not stupid enough to buy that bulldozer load full of BS, cnywoody, and you shouldn’t buy it either.

Handcuffed and taken in for questioning certainly meeets the common-sense definition of arrest.Let a citizen hancuff someone and take them forcibly to another location for interviewing and the SWHTF ! Handcuffs make a mockery out of any claim Zimmerman was not arrested.

I’d say Zimmerman was arrested and then released with no charges filed at this time.

I hadn’t seen or heard that, thanks and I get your point too.

There’s been a composite image file posted on FR showing a smarter dressed Zimmerman vs a rougher looking Martin. Anyone know the source ? Google throws up a zillion images but not that one so to be fair we need a source for it to see if it’s real or a fabrication.
