I have no sympathy for the guy who hired an illegal alien...

If the illegal alien lied about whether or not the ticket was his too bad...

The guy who hired him knew the illegal alien was a liar from the start..

what did he expect ???

That the illegal alien would suddenly get honest ???

So who actually gets it, the illegal alien or the person(s) of whom he was using their stolen social security card he had to obtain to get a job in the US? Will the person who owns that social security card be libel for the taxes on the ‘income’ derived under the use of his social security card?

Why should an illegal alien have any property rights at all?

If I were on the jury, my core belief would be that the alien cannot receive the ticket. The task would then be to decide who should get the ticket. The boss is the obvious choice. Not much deliberation needed.

There is no requirement that a person be a citizen, a legal resident, or otherwise to purchase a lottery ticket. Tax him like any other foreign national who has income in the United States. Even if he only gets to keep one third of the payout - after taxes and legal fees, he can probably live quite well in his homeland on $250,000.

Cua-Toc, who had been living in Fort Valley after an Atlanta immigration attorney won him the right in September to stay in the country for the civil case, is currently serving 44 days in the Houston County jail on a Jan. 31 drunken driving conviction.

You’re 100% correct but i wonder if post 4’s comment on social security number comes into play in any way.

Rules on who can play are different from the rules on how to collect.
Georgia Lottery Corporation(GLC)rules on who can play:
“Anyone who is 18 years of age or older can play Georgia Lottery games except for Georgia Lottery employees, Board members and family members residing in the same household; vendors, subcontractors, employees and family members residing in the same household. There are no restrictions placed on retailers and their employees.”

GLC rules concerning how to collect a prize over $600 are:
“For prizes over $600, winners must fill out a claim form and present two forms of valid identification. The GLC must be able to verify the winner’s identity and Social Security Number (SSN), therefore; at least one form of identification must specifically identify the SSN. The preferred forms of acceptable identification are a valid driver’s license with current address and a Social Security card. Please contact a Player Information Representative for other forms of acceptable identification.”

Highly unlikely.

The state will take the taxes before any payout, so a SS# is not necessary.
