With a single punch, Trayvon Martin decked George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch volunteer who eventually shot to death the unarmed 17-year-old, then climbed on top of Zimmerman and slammed his head into the sidewalk several times, leaving him bloody and battered, according to an account released Monday by authorities.
That is the account Zimmerman gave police, and much of it has been corroborated by witnesses, authorities say.
Zimmerman has not spoken publicly about what happened, but that night, Feb. 26, and in later meetings he described and re-enacted for police what he says happened.
Police disclosed to the Orlando Sentinel that there is about a one-minute gap, after Zimmerman called police and before he fatally shot Martin, during which police say they're not sure what happened.
In Zimmerman's version of events, he had stopped following Martin and had turned around and was walking back to his SUV when Martin approached him from behind. The two exchanged words, then Martin punched him in the nose, sending him to the ground, and began beating him.
Then, Zimmerman says, he began yelling for help.
Several witnesses heard those cries, and there has been a dispute about from whom they came: Zimmerman or Martin. Lawyers for Martin's family say it was Martin, but police say their evidence indicates it was Zimmerman. One witness was unequivocal that it was Zimmerman who was crying for help.

New background information on Martin emerged Monday. He had been suspended from Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High School three times, most recently for possession of an empty bag with marijuana residue and a "marijuana pipe," according to a school's report obtained by the Miami Herald.

The sad thing about this is the total ridiculous and slanted portrayal by the media to create a racial event when all the facts are not in. Even if Zimmerman was guilty of a crime, the media and the teens family have so tainted the process that it would be hard to get a conviction.
I dont know what happened here, but this reminds me of the false Duke lacrosse case.
It seems like the media narrative of this case is falling apart. I mean, the attempts by the liberals to make their political statement through this case, of how America is racist, bigoted, black boys are being hunted down by racists with guns, etc.
This case may end up being like the Tucson shooting or the Duke lacrosse case. In those cases, the liberals force fed a narrative into the media, which ran with the story the way liberals wanted things reported. The facts didn’t matter in either of those case, just as facts don’t matter here.
So many people have weighed in on the liberal side of this case. And, they all did so without knowing all the facts, because facts are still being revealed.
In fact, the entire police report from the night of the incident has not been made public yet. So everyone, from Sharpton and Jackson and the Black Panthers, to pandering Senators such as Durbin and Schumer, don’t have all the facts. Barack Obama doesn’t have all the facts. Yet all have weighed in, convicting Zimmerman in the court of public opinion. So much for the cause of justice.
And did the mayor of Philadephia really call this case an assassination? I heard that, which is so far over the top.
After all the BS from the race baiters and actual racist, they’re going to have a real difficult time with this.

Al Sharpton has never ever been held accountable by the liberals for his behavior and slanders in the Tawana Brawley case. He and his ilk think they can get away with anything.
They probably have learned they can get away with anything because :
1. They are members of an officially aggrieved politically correct group.
2. They are supporters of liberal causes.
3. The liberals in the MSM automatically and dutifully accept charges of racism from these people, no matter the true facts of any given case.
4. The liberals in the MSM are so PC that they are afraid of being perceived as being bigoted or racist themselves. So they kneel on the altar of Al Sharpton and his ilk whenever they weigh in on an issue.
5. The news guidelines used by the MSM are to push stories which fit certain narratives. The narrative in this case is that America is racist, racists have guns, racists are shooting black boys for no reason. There is no such narrative for the black criminals who attacked the couple in Oklahoma recently, so that story was barely reported by the MSM.
6. Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson, et. al. can get face time on TV on demand. Whenever they want to weigh in, they get air time.
make NO mistake about it- the media is testing hte flashpoint of the mob by trying to incite racial divide and hatred by trumpeting unsubstantiated charges in this case- The FACTS show that a man was cold-cokced by a thug, had his head beat agaisnt hte pavement- Called out REOPEATEDLY for someone to help, NOONE did help him, so, fearign for his life, and he had EVERY REASON to fear for his life, He took action to save his own life-
Now, there is another case where blatant racism WAS ifnact the motivator, several black teens hunted down a whuite 13 year old, doused him with gasoline, and lit him on fire- Wghere oh where are jesse jackson and al ‘stir the crowds into a murderous rage’ sharpton denouincing those boys as racist? After Jessie Jackson made his “blacks are under attack” comment I wondered if there was any statistical data upon which to base his claim.
Here’s some numbers from the 2010 FBI #’s ( 2010 FBI) and the 2010 US Census ( 2010 US Census):
a) 196,817,552 (# of non-Hispanic/Latino whites) = 63.7% of the population
b) 42,020,743 (# of “Black or African American alone or in combination”) = 13.6% of the population
c) There were 447 whites killed by blacks
d) There were 218 blacks killed by whites
e) There were 2,459 blacks killed by blacks (shown for reference only)
This shows:
a) That for every 902,833 white people 1 black was killed
b) That for every 94,006 black people 1 white was killed
c) A white person is 9.6X more likely to be killed by a black person than vice-versa.
This statistically refutes Jessie Jackson’s assertion.
I think the media is ready to move on from this story as it turns out to be just another dead dime a dozen gang banger.
