(Hanoi) Jane Fonda to play Nancy Reagan in (the new movie) 'Butler'

In the midst of recruiting an all-star ensemble for his long-gestating passion project "The Butler," director Lee Daniels has tapped Jane Fonda to play Nancy Reagan.

Based on a Washington Post report by Wil Haygood, pic follows Eugene Allen, the White House butler whose career started with Harry Truman in 1952 and ended in 1986 with Ronald Reagan.

Forest Whitaker is closing a deal to play Allen, while Oprah Winfrey remains in talks to play his wife. David Oyelowo is in negotiations to play Allen's son, while Liam Neeson and John Cusack are circling presidential supporting roles as Lyndon B. Johnson and Richard Nixon, respectively. Fonda will appear in a handful of scenes as the first lady of the United States.

Once again, Hollyweird avoids the temptation to make a political statement by selecting an undeniably patriotic cast for a film about the U.S. presidency.

John Cusack (uber-lib) as Richard Nixon? Not only does he look NOTHING like Nixon, I'm sure he will somehow "manage" to make Nixon look even worse than he really was.

I hope that lots of liberals will pour untold sums into making this straight to video "masterpiece".

And by video I mean Betamax.

Oprah Winfrey and Jane Fonda - that's some brilliant casting there. Is there no role for Rosie O'Donnell?

Hollywood really does live in a fantasy world. I remember Jane and Viet Nam. I’m pretty sure I’m not alone, and I’m pretty sure I’ve heard my kids say more than once, “mom, please....” At least I’ve taught them not to be political tools.

Disgusting cast. I wouldn’t pay 1 cent to see a movie with even one of those commies.

This movie isn’t about making money.

This movie is about the Director Lee Daniels spitting in the face of American Conservatives.

I am a bit surprised that he has found the funding to make a movie that is a guaranteeed stinker and money loser, but it’s Hollywood, and they have money to burn.

Jane Fonde should star in the remake of “Hang Em High” and they should forget to cut her down , making it the shortest movie ever made. They could make a fortune at the box office.

That is one movie I will not see. I wouldn’t watch Jane Fonda in anything.

I’ve got a great idea. Why don’t they make a movie about MLK and have David Duke play his part?

I like it. Another box office flop. “Oh, this’ll teach the conservatives. Neener! Neener! Let’s write mean notes about them, too!”
