With a single punch, Trayvon Martin decked the neighborhood watch volunteer who eventually shot to death the unarmed 17-year-old, then climbed on top of George Zimmerman and slammed his head into the sidewalk several times, leaving him bloody and battered, authorities told The Orlando Sentinel.
That is the account Zimmerman gave police, and much of it has been corroborated by witnesses, authorities said.

Zimmerman's injuries were so severe he didn't bother going to the hospital ~ just walked home nekkid from downtown Sanford ~ his clothing having been left at the police station for forensic examination.

New info today says Zimmerman was attacked on the way back to his car AFTER the dispatcher told him to stop following Trayvon. He was >>retreating<<.
Facts are such inconvenient things.
As the story was being picked up the national news, this local station was sitting on the sidelines, letting jesse, fat al and the black panthers pick up steam.
The general manager of that station should be fired.
So, if I’m on top of you, beating your face and slamming your head on the ground, how long do I get to do it? See, it’s sort of a “cultural game” to me, beating folks, hitting them, knocking them down, and beating them. So, you should just accept it. At some point, I might let you up. Or, I might be in a mood with an attitude, and bash your brains all over the sidewalk. You won’t know, until I decide to get off you, or knock you out or kill you.
Do you realize how frigging insane you sound in your post? I’m serious. We are supposed to just lay there and get our faces beaten, and just HOPE our attacker will get up before we’re dead or brain damaged? Really? Is that what you believe?

Once everyone is churned up (which has already happened) no one wants to hear facts if it does not line up with their cause. I think (personally) that Obama and the Left has some real “soul searching” that needs to be done!

This is so out of control. I was watching how many people showed up in my city yesterday for some march for the boy. All I could think of when seeing the huge crowd was that this has snowballed sl badly that these folks won't be happy until Zimmerman is dead.
If you have ever been to the Sanford hospital, you might see a bit of a problem here.

You're right, I don't. You don't actually have to be dying to use your right to self-defense. That would be sort of pointless, wouldn't it. The purpose of the right to self-defense is that you can use it if you're fearful for your life.

Yet, wandering around downtown at 2AM was part of my job off and on for many years, and not just downtown, the part where they kept the main post office. And not just any downtown either, but the big city downtown districts.
Never once got attacked.
I recall this trip to Cleveland where I noticed the cops kept their windows up in their cars in the daytime to keep from getting attacked.
I didn't even get attacked there, and the armed Postal inspector who accompanied me didn't even get a shot off at anybody.
ZImmerman did everything he could possibly do to make someone else believe him to be a predator on the prowl. HIs quarry turned that on him.
I wouldn't have done that either, but Zimmerman would spend a year or two in court.
That's what William Raspberry called a 'white people's riot'.

I disagree. “Some” of the media is already toning down the coverage. They know they jumped the gun, the actual evidence, witness statements, Trayvon rap sheet, combined with the Black Panthers is going to sink this story.
In a week, only MSNBC will be covering it.

I also see the problem that the media keeps using the picture of him as a cute little 8 and 12 year old and not the 155+ LB 6 FT man he was.
I also see the problem that they are ignoring the Tattoo on his arm (Was it a Gang tat?), I also see the problem that this A/B student was half way through a 10 day suspension involving the possession of a baggie with marijuana residue in it. How about the fact that he was looking at further disciplinary action for having assaulted a bus driver.

I hate to jerk you back to reality but this kid Trayvon was a bad seed and unfortunately he ran into a situation that called for good judgement. He didn’t have it and now he is no longer with us. There is a reason for the expression “sh@t happens”.

NO doubt the dispatcher should have hunted up Trayvon and told him about that. He appears (according to Zimmerman’s 911 calls) to have retreated at least three earlier times.

It seems to me that the answer to this is important. It's also important if this error in the reporting was inadvertent, or was intentionally misleading.
