Barton and Burgess say they will stand by Gingrich till the end (Me, too!)

Despite mounting pressure on Newt Gingrich to withdraw from the GOP presidential race, his backers in the Texas congressional delegation are sticking by the former House speaker.

Reps. Michael Burgess, R-Lewisville, and Joe Barton , R-Arlington, both said this week that they will support Gingrich for as long as he is in the race.

"We have an opportunity to really fundamentally change the nature of how business is done in Washington, D.C., and I think Speaker Gingrich is the person to do that," Burgess said in an interview. As for frontrunners Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum, Burgess said he doesn't think "that's really a role for which they are cast."

Barton, meanwhile, said the GOP nomination is "clearly still an open race."

"In my mind no one represents conservative ideals better than Speaker Gingrich and I still think he is our best bet to beat President Obama in the fall," he said in a statement.

In a new CNN/ORC poll, about 60 percent of likely Republican voters said they think both Gingrich and Rep. Ron Paul, R-Lake Jackson, should drop out of the race. A majority of respondents said Santorum, a former senator from Pennsylvania, should stay in the race, and about three-quarters said the same for Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts.

Burgess, however, said Gingrich should keep going, because a number of delegate-heavy states--including Texas, California and Pennsylvania--are yet to hold their primaries.

"Things can change during the course of a primary," he said.

If the race continues, Texas could prove pivotal in determining the GOP nomination, because--thanks to redistricting disputes--it has one of the latest primaries, May 29, and one of the biggest shares of delegates. Since January, Gingrich, Romney and Santorum have all held leads in polls from the Lone Star State.

First, for my one (1) American vote, it will never be cast for Romney or any other GOP-e statist quisling.

Ralative to the foregoing, the left and right pravda media are in “full court press” mode today. They are desperate to end the current news flow. Although the right media have been pushing Romney from Day One, the left has been luxuriating in (and fomenting) the divisive GOP primary. Now, however, where Newt is demonstrably embarrassing and hurting Obama– the left is united in its effort to drive Newt from the public discourse.

CNN polls says that GOP wants Newt out; Newt in money trouble; Adelson meeting with Romney supporters; Newt charging $50 a photo; Newt to support Romney; Newt willing to accept VP; ...garbage...garbage..garbage.

The real Newt headlines are the economy, energy prices and Russian foreign policy deals— AND, that Newt is not dropping out!!!! But, the left doesn’t want to deal with those realities. Well, tough noogies.

Hang in there, Newt.

Newt’s not done, til he says he’s done. And I’m in, til Newt’s out.

I second that!

I am not giving up on Newt. IF he says it’s over, then it’s over but I’m praying it won’t come to that.

Yep. Their role is to push the GOP E and squash conservatism. And just another 'doing it for the team' against conservatism. Nothing new about that.

Newt is the conservative! They know it and NEED to trash him to cause doubt for voters. Gov Palin can back me up on that one for those who have been asleep.

Some refuse to see it or not capable. But it's not rocket science, they just have to get over their preconceived ideas they got from 'propaganda' designed especially against Newt/conservatism/WeThePeople.

Count us in Vin. We will never give up on Newt. He’s been crucified and lied about more than anybody ever in politics. There is much evil out there aimed at him and he has been a strong man to with stand it. He is special, and the more special some one is, the more the evil tries to trash them.

Anything GREAT - AMERICA - always takes a fight! The enemy is in non stop mode. We got here - at these crossroads - because the enemy disguised itself. This election the disguise has fallen - there is no denying it.

The enemy is the GOP E - it disguised itself for votes for years. We relied on them, voted for them and they never turned out who they said they were - as we see how MANY have fallen behind Mitt, who doesn’t even belong in the GOP with his record, the worst of the worst. And that’s why we are in this predicament today but the disguise is OFF for those who can see.

GO NEWT!! Many have voted for others thinking they will get ‘what you say’ from another candidate. These candidates are using deception to attain the GOP E goal - squash conservatism - while ‘speaking’ as one. You have money, media and the GOP E against you - the fight is hard for AMERICA/WeThePeople.

We have lost much over the years because the fight is hard and they will trounced on anyone who dare speak up for WeThePeople/Constitution. Some are ‘allowed’ to - have ‘cloaked’ themselves with the conservative message ONLY to deceive (’doing it for the GOP E team’) voters.

BINGO!! Evil has no truth, only disguises itself as truth to deceive. NEWT is the REAL Deal. He spend his life studying about his love, America. On day one, he's ready to get rid of what evil left behind for America and take on the judges, etc. Evil hates that and will prevent it anyway evil can and uses those who are lustful for power and willing to compromise to attain it's goal.
