German WWII helmets on parade during the gentle and enlightened rule of Gen Pinochet and his entourage...Because Chile would have been so much better off with Allende and his Soviet stooges. /s

The armies of both Chile & Argentina wore German helmets & uniforms since WW1. Both have expatriate German communities and following two world wars there was lots of surplus German accoutrements. I’ve seen pix of Chilean soldiers wearing the old spiked helmets and the steel helmets are everywhere in the footage of the Evita Peron funeral.
Fifty years ago, Afghanistan’s army wore German helmets & greatcoats. Go figure.
