We don't know that yet. He was not arrested because the police thought the shooting was in self defense. This was a purely NON-emotional decision.
This entire story is a story because of the enormous fire of hatred felt by the Black community against Whites. There is plenty of violence between young Black men...no complaint there.
But when the a young Black man (carrying on his shoulders the reputation that young Black men have built up with their violence) is discriminated against because of that well-earned reputation, his community screams bloody murder.
Of course a young Black man in a hoodie is discriminated against. But it isn't because of race. It's because his reputation for violence has preceded him.
But that discrimination isn't the real reason this story dominates the news. This story is powerful because it permits those in the Black community that hate Whites to vocalize their deep-seated hatred. And it gives those who fan the flames of that hatred (Al and Jessie at the front of the pack) to fan it and watch it grow.
I know of NO Whites that hate blacks...not one! Every White person I know believes that ALL people, regardless of the race, deserve the opportunity to achieve whatever they can in America.
But I will say that if Black people continue to scream their hatred for Whites, that belief in fairness among Whites will eventually start to erode.
If you scream your hatred for someone loud enough and long enough, eventually the hated person will to begin return that animosity.
Actually they thought it was "NEGLIGENT MANSLAUGHTER - UNNECESSARY KILLING TO PREVENT UNLAWFUL ACT"
I do...but I ignore racist morons.
