The Case for Gay Acceptance in the Catholic Church (Mega Hurl Kennedy alert)
The Atlantic ^ | March 28, 2012 | Kathleen Kennedy Townsend

Posted on 03/28/2012 12:51:21 PM PDT by C19fan

On St. Patrick's Day I had the pleasure of speaking to about 350 Catholics who gathered together to attend a conference put on by New Ways Ministry, which is an effort to support the LGBT community in the Catholic Church. The women and men I spoke to included nuns and priests, children who had come out and parents who wanted to be supportive. Two female priests gave me special blessing and I left the meeting inspired by the devotion of those who attended.

New Ways Ministry has a critical mission, since changing the Church will help those who suffer from ill treatment not only here in the United States but around the world, where the Church has so much clout. The Church has millions of members in Africa and South America, where being gay or lesbian can lead to a death sentence.

DUH sorry how could I have missed that. Definitely not supported in the Roman Catholic church, though that’s what they look to be claiming to be part of.

But, but the moral teaching of the Church are not affirming of the biological genetic inherent same sex attraction that must be acted upon to authenticate the true selfhood of homosexual identity which you know Jesus never said anything about. They were born this way doncha know? Sexual identity is unchangeable and it is oppressive and judgmental to inflict heterosexism as the norm on others who do not share that paradigm of sexuality.

Oh by the way don’t confuse sexuality with gender which is a cultural construct and is mutable and depends on how a person envisions their gender identity. So you can have a lesbian who is trapped in a man’s body.

Did I do that right? Did I get all the squishy stuff right? I am ready for Academia.

God calls all of us to chastity but those who are unmarried are called to celibacy as well.

They are accepted by the Catholic Church. They are welcome to come to Mass anytime.

Just don’t expect your behavior to be accepted.
Hate the sin, love the sinner.

You are 100% correct.

A brief skimming, if not full review, of the encyclical on this subject would tell anyone the same thing.

What makes the Kennedys think that they can hold great governmental positions after graduating from superior colleges and universities and not read a basic Church document?

Do your homework, lady.

The lack of Biblical scholarship evident in her ravings is so obvious it is a wonder any sensible person pays the least regard to them.

Oh wait, they don’t.

The Church has millions of members in Africa and South America, where being gay or lesbian can lead to a death sentence.

And the answer is to preach Christ. Not gayism.

And, by the way, a death sentence at the hands of whom? Care to go there?

Preach Christ. Thats the answer. What to do about church members who are gay? Preach Christ. What to do about the people who would harm them, or the people whom they might harm? Preach Christ. What about people who aren't church members? Preach Christ. Thats the mission. Do that and the rest resolves itself.

They are not born that way.

The stuff about gender is cr@p. In this Brave New Feminazi World, some of the ancient hard wiring still makes itself known. Human nature never changes.

Courage advocates chastity for homosexuals not celibacy since homosexuals cannot get married.

There are NO SUCH things as "female priests" in the Catholic Church! Kathleen Kennedy Townsend is a liar!

I e-mailed Townsend and told that there are no female priests, unless she intends for her next column to be “Why Jesus Was Wrong”.

What I don’t understand is why these folks want to be Catholics. Why don’t they just join the Episcopal Church? Pretty much the same formula at services, a very similar liturgy, better music and usually better architecture. And they can all be happily gay together.

This former Catholic watched as the churches around him (in Maryland) succumbed to Satan, and we stopped going around the mid 90s. Half of the lay people are homo queers who have no business being there, except to molest boys and infest the HOLY teachings with FILTH. CINO business men regularly donate to “Catholic” O’Malley, who recently allowed homo “marriage” here. MOVING SOUTH SHORTLY

Catholics such as Ms. Kennedy are well aware of Church teachings on these matters.

Out of pride and vanity however, they believe they know better than the ancient Church and believe that their rejection of her teachings and the propagation of their own false and fatal doctrines is doing what is right.

Of course, they are wrong.

All kinds of sinners are accepted in the Catholic Church on one condition--check your sins at the door.

When you tell us that your sins really aren't sins but just part of your lifestyle, you're not welcome. Sorry.

Just like insisting that we uphold immigration laws has nothing to do with the humane or inhumane treatment of illegals.

Nobody wants to see any illegal immigrant harmed or abused.
We just want them to obey the law and go home. And I’m sick of the media implying that if we question illegals or homosexuals in any way it’s the same thing as taking a bullwhip to them.

Watch that talk about bullwhips. They might change their mind and decide they like it.

They are not aware of the contents of the Papal documents.

But you point out the reasons why.
