HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) The U.S. Supreme Court refused last-day appeals from convicted killer Jesse Joe Hernandez, clearing the way for his execution Wednesday evening for the 2001 beating death of a 10-month-old boy he was baby-sitting at a home in Dallas.
The high court ruling came about two hours before the 47-year-old Hernandez, who previously was convicted of a child sex offense, could be taken to the Texas death chamber for lethal injection. The justices' order was brief and did not include an explanation for their decision.
The execution would be the fourth this year in Texas.
Ten-month-old Karlos Borja had a skull fracture and bruises to his head, thigh and abdomen when he was taken to a Dallas hospital in April 2001. A week later, he was taken off life support and died. His 4-year-old sister had similar beating injuries to her head, ears and eyes but survived.

Adios, Jesse Joe.
The constitution prohibits cruel and unusual punishment, but I’d be in favor of waiving that in cases like this.
Baby Sitter From Hell Heads Back To Same ???
Time to take out the trash.
Aaaaaah, they’ll put him humanely out of his misery like a sick dog or cat.
Texas seems awfully slow this year if this is only execution #4. What of the normal Texas score of hundreds per year? Do they tend to cluster mostly in the latter part of a year?
When I was young, it seemed killers of young children only got a few years. I thought in my childhood the young age of the victims should make it a first degree murder.
Justice is done.
May Satan treat him as he treated the children.
A well deserved execution.
Ahh, if it was wholly up to the devil it would be “welcome good buddy” or something like that. But we know how the story ends. Not even hell can hide from the wrath of God; it too gets plunged into an entirely new entity, the Lake of Fire.
See you in hell, Jesse! Hope you enjoy the accommodations.
Well, that's done.
I'm up for some baked pork chops and garlic bread.
A fresh beer, too.. here's to ya!
And he’s such a nice looking boy.
Johnny Cash - “Twenty-five Minutes To Go”
Well they’re building a gallows outside my cell I’ve got 25 minutes to go
And the whole town’s waitin’ just to hear me yell I’ve got 24 minutes to go
Well they gave me some beans for my last meal I’ve got 23 minutes to go
But nobody asked me how I feel I’ve got 22 minutes to go
Well I sent for the governor and the whole dern bunch with 21 minutes to go
And I sent for the mayor but he’s out to lunch I’ve got 20 more minutes to go
Then the sheriff said boy I gonna watch you die got 19 minutes to go
So I laughed in his face and I spit in his eye got 18 minutes to go
Now hear comes the preacher for to save my soul with 13 minutes to go
And he’s talking bout’ burnin’ but I’m so cold I’ve 12 more minutes to go
Now they’re testin’ the trap and it chills my spine 11 more minutes to go
And the trap and the rope aw they work just fine got 10 more minutes to go
Well I’m waitin’ on the pardon that’ll set me free with 9 more minutes to go
But this is for real so forget about me got 8 more minutes to go
With my feet on the trap and my head on the noose got 5 more minutes to go
Won’t somebody come and cut me loose with 4 more minutes to go
I can see the mountains I can see the skies with 3 more minutes to go
And it’s to dern pretty for a man that don’t wanna die 2 more minutes to go
I can see the buzzards I can hear the crows 1 more minute to go
And now I’m swingin’ and here I go-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o!
Justice, in line with God’s command.
And yet. in Texas, and in America, those who dismembered and killed thousands of defenseless, innocent little children in their mother’s wombs today walk free.

(Awesome execution tune)
I’ve visited the website of Texas Department of Criminal Justice and it’s amazing what info you can find there regarding those on death row and those who’ve been executed. With those who’ve been executed you can see, among other things, the “last statement” the condemned makes.I find it interesting how many acknowledge their crimes and express remorse and apologize to the victim’s family.Yes,many claim that they’re innocent and what’s being done to them is wrong but a surprising (to me,at least) percentage don’t.
Joe, I hope you've made your peace with God because your face-to-face meeting is long overdue.
Remember, this is Texas, we'll kill you back.
A few of you...
Later, rather than sooner...
Texas is supposed to be an example of capital punishment done right
I don't really see that as the case, but rather another example of the law being exercised capriciously, inequitably and usually obscenely delayed.
Isn’t this just an example of post-birth abortion? Shouldn’t he be eligible for a Harvard faculty position in the Medical Ethics department?
