You are exactly right. I posted this in another thread:

This situation is like a small drip in the basement. You let it go and soon the basement is flooded. This is our government. It is flooded with bad law and it is time to return to the original intent of the creation of this country. FREEDOM!!!!! However, it might take an armed conflict to achieve this.....as predicted by the founders.

When Obamacare gets tossed by the SCOTUS look for those who voted for it to either “retire” or run for cover. Especially if they are up for reelection. Hopefully bye bye Stabenow in Michigan.

Your argument would carry more weight if it wasn’t burdened with racial and religious bigotry.

By that logic, since a far bigger majority of Congress is male, you and Gloria Steinem can conclude that men are far worse than lawyers.

This passage from Robert Bolt’s Oscar-winning film A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS demonstrates how vital lawyers are as a vanguard for freedom (and as a war vet and a lawyer, I am happy to be part of that vanguard):

Alice More: Arrest him!

More: Why, what has he done?

Margaret More: He’s bad!

More: There is no law against that.

Will Roper: There is! God’s law!

More: Then God can arrest him.

Alice: While you talk, he’s gone!

More: And go he should, if he was the Devil himself, until he broke the law!

Roper: So now you’d give the Devil benefit of law!

More: Yes. What would you do? Cut a great road through the law to get after the Devil?

Roper: I’d cut down every law in England to do that!

More: Oh? And when the last law was down, and the Devil turned ‘round on you, where would you hide, Roper, the laws all being flat? This country’s planted thick with laws from coast to coast– man’s laws, not God’s– and if you cut them down—and you’re just the man to do it—do you really think you could stand upright in the winds that would blow then? Yes, I’d give the Devil benefit of law, for my own safety’s sake.

_____________

Shame on those who hate lawyers - those who hate lawyers hate law - and without law there is no chance of freedom and security.

Well gee golly.....I should probably feel ashamed of myself......but instead, I’ll just say get over yourself.

Don’t EVEN get me started on the misery inflicted on society by your profession vs. the “good” it has done. Trust me; you do not want to go there.

This episode has revealed to me the difference between The Constitution and Constitutional law:

The Constitution: A carefully crafted document, written by patriots, who risked their lives, liberty and sacred honor, warning us to be wary of the excesses of government.

Constitutional law: The 230+ year history of self-important nitwits with personal agendas telling us that the plain language of the Constitution means something else entirely.

Conservatives are champions of the RULE OF LAW, for which lawyers and courts are essential.

If the people elect legislatures that pass bad laws and fund corrupt court systems, then shame on both the people and the legislatures.

The people are not electing legislators who will impeach bad judges or institute tort reform, etc.

You could blame the people who have to work within the laws that are enacted, or you can blame those who enact (the laws and those who elect those legislators).

After we are forced to buy Obamacare, the next thing we will be forced to buy will be Government Motor’s Volt. From there, we will be required to only eat what the first bitch orders us to....and buy it from government owned grocery stores.

If Obama brings out all the negative results, the inference of most intelligent people will be

That won't happen. The Dems tack will be to point at the Repubs and say "see we did what we could, but they took it all away". They have already started. obama's deputy campaign manager, just last night basically laid it out as keep obamacare, of follow the Repub plan that say "so sorry, you die."

Romney won't bring it up, unless forced to, because of the exact reasons you stated...MassCare is a disaster, and everyone knows it.

Repealed or not, this is a win for the Dems, because it has created bureaucracy that will not go away, even if obamacare does. The ultimate goal of all this is control, through the transport of single payer, government run healthcare

Just my take on it.

“Conservatives are champions of the RULE OF LAW”

I don't know about that. I like to believe I'm governed by Gods’ laws. They are pretty simple and although hard to follow at times not subject to interpretation.

Laws, at least the laws of men always have unintended consequences. They start out with only the best intentions (well, not all of them) and over time get corrupted to suit the needs of some faceless “them”, to exert control over “us” or just as a money making tool.

I'm not a Champion of bad law. Guess that makes me not a Conservative.

My father was a lawyer (and one of the very few honest ones) and that’s why he never got rich.

With that said, lawyers are the very reason we find ourselves in the situation we are now in. Due to them, we have lost our freedoms and security (the ability to protect our lives and property).

All laws ever written were written by lawyers, for lawyers, and for guaranteed lawyer business. For example: The Americans With Disability Act. It opened a virtual cornucopia of new laws that ensured a whole new world of business through lawsuits.

The list goes on and on and on, with each year even more laws and regulations are enacted to ensure even more business for the law industry.

Stop and think; how many hundreds of millions has the legal profession made so far in the fiasco called Obamacare? And, there is still a lot more to come.

Want to see a sample of what I am saying? Open your telephone book and go to the yellow pages under: Attorneys, lawyers, and legal services and you will readily find out.

I am looking at my town’s phone book and on the front page it has an advertisement for The law offices of Thomas J. Henry. On the back page it has a full page ad for the same attorney. The entire white pages consist of only 76 pages while the yellow pages for lawyers consists of 75 law advertisements placed on 12 pages. The entire telephone book is .4 inches thick.

When I was a boy back in the 50’s, we only had my father and 5 other lawyers in this immediate area. Now, look at it!

Don’t tell me how they are saving our freedoms...they are feeding on the harvest of new laws they enable with each passing year.

In a case of FCC allowing or censoring profanity on ‘family time’ TV a few years back (I think during Colin Powell’s kid’s tenure as chair - so it had to be a clear cut case of obscenity), Breyer I’m sure wrote the dissenting opinion that profanity HAD to be used, could NOT be so restricted in order to affirm, assert the powers of the First Amendment.

The four liberal justices on the supreme court have no regard whatsover to the US Constitution. God help us if Obama gets another 4 years to appoint another justice. Listening to the four idiots makes the case we must support the GOP nominee and take our chances.

“When is the decision supposed to be?”

From what I understand they will actually decide rather quickly, possibly a few days. Then it will take several months for their staffers to research and write the opinions.......June.

Your analysis is so irrational.

The good laws were also written by lawyers.

Lawyers cannot simply show up and enact laws and appoint themselves as judges. Elections matter. If the electorate chooses to send bad lawyers to Washington to write bad laws and appoint bad judges, then shame on the electorate.

Its fun and easy to scapegoat - and utterly lacking in virtue and traditional conservative principals.

“Its a republic if you can keep it” was a warning - the people have not heeded it and have instead - in your estimation - apparently chosen bad lawyers to make the law. Of course we all know that the people elected Clinton and Obama - both bad lawyers - as president.

According to your logic, businessmen also deserve across-the-board condemnation because there are more businessmen than lawyers in the current U.S. House of Representatives.
175 Representatives in the current House are businessmen, but only
168 Representatives in the current House are lawyers.
I won’t condemn businessmen, however, because like lawyers, businessmen are the bedrock of American values.

Freedom requires lawyers.
Capitalism requires businessmen.
Free market capitalism requires both.

The creation and enforcement of good law requires lawyers.

The electorate is 100% responsible for any bad laws as they alone have the power to vote the lawmakers into office and toss them out of office.

Conservatives are the champions of the Rule of Law - period. If we do not have laws that delineate the boundaries of acceptable conduct and limit government power, then we have no freedom.

If the laws are bad, then its your duty to influence your fellow citizens to vote in people who will get rid of bad laws.

“The electorate is 100% responsible for any bad laws as they alone have the power to vote the lawmakers into office and toss them out of office”

I, being one of the electorate for approx. 40 years now, am not taking responsibility for all, as a matter of fact none, of the laws on the books good or bad or indifferent. I believe there needs to be a moratorium on any new laws or regulations being passed. And in the meantime review the millions of laws on the books and do away with....say 75% of them. Or more.

If no new laws were passed within the next 5 years then what would be the downside? I’m pretty sure the country, my state and community would be just fine.

I would have liked to ask him if Congress has the authority to to require Americans to submit to forced abortion, since the future child would indeed, eventually, be involved in commerce!
