On March 28, Ed Perlmutter(D) and 182 other Democrats Voted to Seize the Internet. (vanity)

For many months, Republicans have fought the Obama-directed attempt by the FCC to expand it's control over the internet. Many pundits argue that the FCC has no compelling interest in the internet, and that the FCC has a long history of chilling debate in the various media venues it has asserted control over.

In November of 2010, the FCC and their accomplices in Congress again tried to let 'the camel's nose in the tent', by allowing the FCC to regulate the internet in the guise of 'Net Neutrality'. This effort was defeated.

Obviously, the Democrats will not be allowed to squelch the alternative media, and to quash dissent, by letting the FCC decide what speech is allowable and what is not. So, on March 28, in a time-honored tradition, legislation was offered that seemingly had a benevolent intent -- to prevent employers from demanding Facebook passwords -- but inside the legislation was a poison. The enforcing agency would be the FCC.

This legislation would then be a win-win for the Democrats. If the legislation was adopted, the control over the internet by the FCC would be further advanced. If the legislation was killed, the Democrats and their complicit counterparts in the media, could cry out that 'Republicans hate privacy' and that they opposed keeping Facebook passwords out of employers hands.

And since the legislation did fail, the second option is the one that has materialized. The left and their accomplices in the leftist press, is in fact obscuring the true objection (the FCC) and claiming Republicans hate privacy.

It is nonsensical, and a bright Republican leadership will propose the exact same legislation, with a much more neutral enforcing agency.

Indeed. Good post. The left has been doing this for ages because they know the media will not report the truth and will blame it on the evil republicans.

Sometimes people on our own side fail to realize that some bills get voted down because of added destructive content within a bill.

I see it coming eventually, too. Especially if 0-Care is let live, in part or entirety.

Libs-dems/RINOs = flip side of the same dirty coin.

I saw an Occupy Voting Booths graphic, that made me do a little homework, and it immediately became apparant why the bill was truly defeated. Here's the graphic. I would ask someone to completely copy the format, almost to a T, and put MY message into it..... using this article as the linked source.

True, but the point is the chess that the left is playing, and why I needed to respond with this article. I need the premise (that dissects the left’s claim) to go viral.

There is no such thing. People simply have to refuse to work for companies that do that, or else stay off Facebook (my preference).

Perhaps. But the point is the propaganda counter and the gain from that. The Dems won't go for anything but FCC oversight, so you know the outcome already -- and you win in the court of public opinion.

See, it is important to counter a prevarication by the Democrats. We need to play chess, not checkers.

No problem there; we are in agreement. It's time like this that I miss FReeper Registered. He could crank tweak that image in a heartbeat.

Nah, I like to hand them a fully loaded gun and tell them we're playing Russian Roulette. :-)

Not exactly on topic, but somewhat related — California finally did something right by introducing a bill banning prospective employers from requiring Facebook info:

At this point in time, a bright Republican leadership is almost an oxymoron to me. They MUST stand up and fight these duplicitous, snakelike Communists.

Thanks for the report, Laz. They called the last censorship system the “fairness doctrine” and Republicans were said to be against fairness. Dems are sneaky petes.
