Latino organizations dismiss George Zimmerman, question his ethnicity
Daily Caller ^ | 03/29/2012 | Caroline May

The death of Trayvon Martin has sent racial shock-waves through the country, and while the focus has largely been on anger from the black community, the fact remains that the alleged shooter, currently in hiding from vigilante threats, is a self-described Hispanic man.

But if George Zimmerman was hoping to find support in the Latino community, he should look elsewhere.

“The Latino community joins the African-American community and other communities in condemning George Zimmerman as what he is – a murderer and a racist,” Roberto Lovato, co-founder of the online Latino advocacy organization Presente.org, told The Daily Caller.

The group is acting on Trayvon’s behalf. Presente.org has joined with Color of Change to petition for the arrest of Martin’s murderer.

“Todos somos Trayvon! (We are all Trayvon!),” Presente.org wrote, urging supporters to sign the petition. The group also has a petition to condemn Geraldo Rivera for blaming Martin’s hoodie for his death. According to Lovato, the petition currently has 18,000 signatures.

La Raza has rallied for Martin with the civil rights community as well.

The organization’s urged so much in a March 22 post at the Huffington Post.

“NCLR joins allies in the civil rights community in calling for a real investigation for this grievous failure of justice,” president and CEO Janet Murguía wrote.

But I guess the illegal aliens who have murdered innocent black youths for no other reason than being in the wrong ‘hood are still welcome members of La Raza.

Timing is of prime importance to the left in keeping up interest.

Democrat voters must all be racist murderers because Zimmerman is a Democrat voter.

Aren’t generalizations wonderful?

Why do people still think there’s a chance for the GOP to get the Hispanic vote without pandering to the extent that the left does? There are more “gimmees” in being professional victims, which is what the left plays to.

Dear Mr. Lovato and La Raza-your monumental ignorance is showing-Hispanics are an ethnic group, not a “raza”/race. More people of Hispanic ancestry are white/caucasian than are black or asian. Try checking your facts-you are insulting we Americans of Hispanic ancestry and everyone else with your stupidity...

Government officials learning Spanish to officiate at Hispanic weddings

Journal Gazette, The (Fort Wayne, IN) - Monday, September 16, 2002

Author: Paul Glader Washington Post

Removing a language barrier couldn’t erase the nuptial jitters for Andres Jimenez Moritz, who married a more relaxed and smiling Noelia Madueno Prado recently in the old Prince William County, Va., Courthouse.

The 21-year-old bridegroom’s fingers fidgeted nervously, and he shifted back and forth in his dark dress shoes as he and his young immigrant sweetheart exchanged vows and simple rings at the instruction of Gladys Zimmerman , a Spanish-speaking civil celebrant.

“Puede besar a la novia,” said Zimmerman, closing the five-minute ceremony with the traditional phrase in Spanish that allows the bride and groom to kiss.

With Hispanic populations rising sharply, counties such as Prince William and Maryland’s Montgomery have hired Spanish-speaking civil celebrants like Zimmerman to perform weddings.

Immigrants in Loudoun, Va., and Maryland’s Prince George’s counties, however, must take a friend along to interpret or bluff through a ceremony with broken English and charades, an embarrassing experience for all parties.

David Mabie, Prince William’s clerk of courts, said he fumbled through ceremonies in that fashion in the late 1980s.

(snip)

Prince William’s Hispanic population grew from 10,000 in 1990 to 17,600 in 2000, and Mabie knew something had to change. So he hired Zimmerman from another department of the courts in 1995 and made her a deputy clerk and civil celebrant. Zimmerman, a native of Peru, performs as many as five Spanish-language ceremonies a day.

God; I hope for his sake no one claims he’s related to Obama, another one no one seems to know the origin of.

Now that I think of it Zimmerman might have to be sacrificed. Holder will protect “his people.” The allegations that Zimmerman simply shot “The Trayvon” are starting to be factually refuted; therefore, the DOJ may “railroad” Zimmerman.

Latino organizations dismiss George Zimmerman, question his ethnicity

If Barry can be black because one of his parents was black, then George Zimmerman can be Hispanic, if one of his parents is Hispanic.

Not only toi I come from a large, conservative family of Hispanic ancestry, but I don’t know a single person of the same ethnicity who is a democrat/liberal-of course, I do live in a small rural community in Texas...

the problem is this: the average Latino isn’t really fond of black folks so no matter what the people who claim to represent the community say, people on the ground feel differently.
It’s only gonna take one Hispanic who is fed up to light the powderkeg.....I’ll have my popcorn ready.

Predictable. But I don’t think it will fly with most Latinos.

They won’t be able to control the Flash Mobs that have been riled-up by Jesse, Rev. Al and Spike Lee. Only a matter of time before other Hispanics are accosted.

The “National Organization for Women” (NOW) spent months hounding Republican US Senator Robert Packwood (OR) for claims of sexual abuse and assault on women staffers and lobbyists. He was forced to resign in 1995 but there was never any legal decision for the victims. In 1998, NOW was conspicuously quiet through most of the firestorm surrounding a more powerful politician who had a long history of similar actions only to have one provable by scientific testing! The simple answer, is that their interest was not in truth but in power and powerful friends.

Guess that these ‘Hispanic’ pressure groups are no different. By their actions you will know them (and their ‘friends’)!
