Two suitcases crammed with counterfeit $100 bills were seized in Kuala Lumpur this week from two Iranian traders who flew in to the Malaysian capital on direct flights from Tehran. One contained 153,000 forged dollars and the second 203,000. The traders claimed they were issued the bills by tellers at the Iranian central bank CBI to finance their business transactions and had no notion they had not been dealt genuine greenbacks.

The Persians have always tried to counterfeit U.S. Dollars and have been doing it for some time now. It would be interesting to see who was a player here.

We could retaliate by printing Rials, but they’re worthless

The best counterfeit $100 bills — called super notes — are produced by the North Koreans, and dumped into world circulation by Chinese operatives.

This is nothing. The cops in Italy have caught people with Trillions of dollars in counterfeit currency -- more than once.

As far as I'm concerned, the global financial system is a sham. Both physical fiat currency and digital fiat currency seem untrustworthy. People just wave their hands and make this stuff come into existence. The world is like $150T in debt, right?

Hard to take of it seriously. It's just a shell game now.

I noticed last week that counterfeit bills were being circulating in this area. They were said to be very high quality and would pass the pen swipe test.

Haven’t heard much since. Always wonder if some are so good that they are never detected.

“The cops in Italy have caught people with Trillions of dollars in counterfeit currency — more than once.”

They were actually counterfeit U.S. treasury bonds rather than cash but you’re point is right on. The counterfeit bonds were being used — or intended to be used — as collateral to secure cash loans.

One of the KOGO radio hosts, Steve Yuhas, got a counterfeit $100 from the teller at his bank. It was caught by a retailer when he attempted to use it later in the day.

Ya know...

if you think about it...

they’re ALL counterfeit.

Not much difference between the Iranians printing worthless pieces of paper and our federal reserve printing worthless pieces of paper.

The only reason either one has any value whatsoever is that the person accepting it is reasonably certain that he can pass it to the next guy in exchange for a good or service.

Supernotes crack me up. Secret service says the North Koreans make 45 million worth of them.
That’s 45 million with an ‘m’! Woooooo!
I want to hear a rational explanation how that threatens trust in the dollar, but Obama running off a trillion at a whack is somehow ok.
I can no longer support the prosecution of a counterfeiter,,, certainly not without laughing out loud. They are all pikers compared to Obama.
