Two well-placed legal experts have independently told Palmetto Public Record they expect the U.S. Department of Justice to issue an indictment against South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley on charges of tax fraud as early as this week.
A highly ranked federal official has also privately confirmed rumblings of an investigation and possible indictment of the governor, though the official was not aware of the specific timeframe.
Yesterday, Palmetto Public Record exclusively reported that the Internal Revenue Service has been investigating since March of 2011 the Sikh worship center run by Gov. Haleys father. At least five lawsuits have been filed against the Sikh Society of South Carolina since 2010, alleging that the group bilked contractors out of nearly $130,000 for the construction of a new temple.
Gov. Haley is reported to have managed the temples finances as late as 2003, and our sources believe any indictment would center on what happened to the missing money.
Palmetto Public Record will post a story later this afternoon detailing the temples shady finances and the governors possible involvement. Stay tuned
The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
A witch hunt or Holder hates women?
Since there is absolutely no mention of party affiliation—do I get to guess that she is a D??
Yes. If Nikki Haley ran a GM or a Chrysler dealership, Obama would have closed it as soon as he came into office.
Guess they wanted to undercut her as a Veep.
She’s a Repbulican.
selective service tells arpaio to call FBI..
Every last one of those lawsuits filed in 2010 can’t touch the governor’s term running the temple considering that the Statute of Limitations regarding construction liens is either 3 or 6 years...
Is Turbo Tax Timmy leading the charge?
The WH is filled with tax frauds.
First, doesn't 2003 equal nine years ago. Second, if building contractors didn't get paid - how does that morph into a federal tax fraud indictment?
Obama declares war on political opponents. What a shock.
I can hardly wait until we fire this clown in November.
Statute on tax fraud is six years.
Statute on false statements is five years.
I guess the sikks are not a protected minority under Holdup.
This would partly explain why she was able to endorse Mitt Romney.
Rising star my arse.
She publicly endorsed Romney right before Newt swept the SC Primary.
Even among conservatives, she just not that popular here.
Haley’s term as governor has been somewhat of a letdown, to say the least.
This is a Lawrence Walsh special: 100$ political, designed to influence the election.
