The Orange County Register ^ | 3-29-2012 | The Orange County Register Editorial Boarad

Arguments have concluded at the U.S. Supreme Court regarding the constitutionality of President Barack Obama's signature legislation, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which we refer to as Obamacare. Now the anxious waiting for a ruling expected in June. We were encouraged . . .The Constitution has morphed into something the founders would have difficulty recognizing. It is our position the federal government has no authority to impose mandates, regulations, taxes or other burdens on the citizenry simply to improve someone's life. . . .

I think it’s a damn shame that 4 Justices are a given to uphold the law simply because of their politics. If they really did their job and interpreted the Constitution it would not be a slam dunk. In fact, they’d probably have to overturn it.

How did we get here?

simply to improve someone's life. . . .

You could improve everyone's life by participating in the discussion here instead of just pimping your blog crap.

How about summarizing your point instead of requiring folks to click your blog?

Give it a shot. See the "reply" button?

Isn’t it ironic that the guy who will likely put an end to national healthcare in the U.S. is named Kennedy?

OR if the SCOTUS fails to uphold the Constitution, the WORK TO DESTROY OBAMACARE does not end.

Remember, this is ONLY a judicial solution. We can also kill it via the legislature.

Never say die on this, folks. Never.

Whatever they do will surprises. The Court is also at a crossroads. How the supposed co-equal third branch of government fits into the scheme of things. Congress controls their budgets and filling vacancies. The President also has great sway over their funding and of course appointments. They can be impeached. Court sees the sweeping power grab and wonders if they will be next in terms of encroachment on power. The hungry federal govt has gutted states rights and perrogatives, and is now after total control of every aspect of individual citizens’ lives. No longer “we the people” or “The united states” but totaly answerable to the hungry maw in DC. The Court better be creative and smart.

Join me in praying for SCOTUS. Striking down this 2700 page nightmare could bring hope to our entrepreneurs and dreamers, and reignite our economy. This would save so much misery.

Please, Heavenly Father, enlighten and lead our Supreme Court Justices, if that be Thy will.

“How did we get here?”

Too much expansion of the franchise. The ignorant—for that matter, the stupid, the drug-addled, and the senile—have the same vote as the learned and wise.

It's hugely ironic.

and a reminder of the power that irish "catholics" have in this country. and believe you me, they do have power. it probably wasn't a bad thing until Vatican 2.

Why has the discussion not become changing the 10th amendment to clarify what and how it effects commerce! I would think that the ultimate fix would be changes to this amendment. Tired of constantly challenging the liberals so they can attempt to pass their own interpretations over the ideas (plainly expressed by the way) of the Constitution.

Well when the time comes (and it may) that all three branches are controlled by one party with ideas of controlling Government...what do we do?

With no control between the branches there is nothing left to control any branch by the people. That will be out ending.

Not sure what will happen after that, but doubt that it will be pretty... That seems to be happening today.

Dental Care: Does ObamaCare cover routine visits to the dentist?

What about serious dental work like root canal work or other dental surgery?

Supreme Court Justices and other judges: Do Supreme Court Justices and all other judges have to join ObamaCare, or do they have special treatment and are exempt?

Thanks.

I just saw a “crawl” on Fox that the court ruled 5-4 that strip searches can be allowed for any offense even if there’s no suspicion of contraband. Kennedy wrote the majority decision saying the court should not second guess the correctional authorities.

Was the case about prison searches? I hope so.

This has gone on long enough.

The Orange County Register is a legitimate newspaper. I used to work for a smaller newspaper in the same chain. Either Landsbaum is doing something wrong, in which case he needs to be told to stop doing it, or he's following the rules, in which case the people complaining need to be told to stop doing that.

Would the Admin Moderator please issue a ruling so this back-and-forth can end?
