CHARLOTTE, N.C. — More than 500 people filled Marshall Park Thursday demanding justice for Trayvon Martin.
The rally was initially billed a "hoodie march" but due to the warm weather, most in the crowd simply wore T-shirts with Martin's name and face printed on them.
"We're trying to stand up for justice and for Trayvon Martin," said Coretta Livingston. "Somebody's got to do something about this matter because if they don't do anything about Trayvon, it's going to Davon or John or Sammy next."
Several of the protesters referred to that same sense of personal reflection and fear that Martin's death has caused in Charlotte, across the U.S. and worldwide.
The 17-year-old was shot to death by George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch leader, who described Martin as looking "suspicious," before he shot and killed the unarmed teen.
Charlotte Mayor Pro Tem Patrick Cannon said Martin's story doesn't highlight a "black issue," but rather a "human issue." Other speakers preached awareness and activism to ensure cases like Martin's aren't forgotten and don't happen again.
"You're standing here in the words of Martin Luther King," radio personality NoLimit Larry told the crowd.
NoLimit Larry said that although the shooting happened 500 miles away in Florida, "Martin Luther King said injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."

I wish someone would tell Al Sharpton that that includes white boys set afire for being white and whites being sexually assaulted and tortured like in Knoxville.
But it's really about how the perception of blacks must never be negative, even if it threatens the safety of the white population.
And how many black youth in Charlotte have been killed in gang violence since Trayvon was shot?????
How many marches have protested innocent black youth killed by the gangs, vs. this one rare shooting of a black youth by a non-black person??????
They probably get the information from the alphabet networks which have selectively reported and edited it to fit the Dem, racism and gun control narrative.
I think a paternity test is in order here!!!

I knew this was going to happen when everyone got laid off and got their bellies full with food purchased with food stamps. Too much free time on their hands. The least these bass turds could do when they go on one of their marches is take some garbage bags with them and pick up the trash along the side of the road.
This is the media creating the news. High School Soccer games bring in more people. This was a non-event and a mythical creation of the occupation media. The real news. Millions stayed home today.
You and me both. I’m even more sick of hearing about how black men are in such danger, all the while blacks are more likely to kill whites even though only they’re only app 12% of the population. If anything, whites are being targeted by blacks for violence.
Oh, well, I'm sure the local Trayyyyyyvons will start a nice riot near me.
