Rosie O’Donnell’s talk show ends a day early

The short life of “The Rosie Show” got even shorter Thursday when OWN aired the finale of the anemically rated program a day early.

Talk show host Rosie O’Donnell did the equivalent of slipping quietly out the back door when she capped off Thursday’s broadcast not with any parting words, but with a performance by singer Josh Kelley.

Kelley’s performance had been taped — and had aired — a few months ago, back when O’Donnell was doing her show in front of an audience in a much larger space at Chicago’s Harpo Studios.

The show since had been stripped of its live band, game show segments and confetti showers in favor of a small, quiet set where O’Donnell presided over one-on-one interviews.

The retooling couldn’t save the daily talk show, which was drawing fewer than 200,000 viewers on the fledgling Oprah Winfrey Network.

Reminds me of that episode of Sienfeld where Kramer found the set of Merv Griffens show in the garbage. He took it home and started producing his own talk show in his apartment.

I'd rather watch the show from Wayne's basement than either Kramer or Rosie.

By all logical standards, an entertainer who is not entertaining should not have a job. Rosie O’Donnell is as entertaining as a tax seminar.

True but at least you get valuable accurate information from one. What do you get from Rosie? ...Fire can't melt steel...

Maybe she didn't have enough time to do the last show as she was posting the address of Zimmerman's parents.

I suspect that the show was recorded, but OW chose not to air it. Besides, Rosie was too busy finding home addresses so she didn’t even notice.

I wonder if they got the idea from DeNiro's The King of Comedy or the other way around. I don't know which came first.
