Santorum: ĎIím Not Going to Run as a Conservative Ė Iím a Conservative Periodí
CNS News ^ | March 30, 2012 | Melanie Hunter

Posted on 03/30/2012 7:41:34 PM PDT by Engraved-on-His-hands

GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum on Thursday took GOP frontrunner Mitt Romney to task for his past as a self-described “independent” who claimed he did not want to “return to the days of Reagan-Bush.

Santorum, speaking to supporters at the Jelly Belly factory – which had honored President Ronald Reagan in the past for promoting the jelly bean – asked which candidate would be pull together the “Reagan coalition” and win swings states, which are “vitally important” for winning the presidential election.(Snip)

“Governor Romney said that after the Etch-a-Sketch flap that he was going to run as a conservative in the fall. I’m not going to run as a conservative in the fall. I am a conservative, period,” Santorum said.

Fight on, Rick! Fight on!

Absolutely, fight your heart out Rick! Rick's the only one who can stop Romney now and it's critical that Romney be stopped. Otherwise I fear he'll come up with some form of Romneycare even if SCOTUS rules against it. He believes in it, he's said so.

How can people keep voting for the same crap over and over again?

Santorum has to persevere, no matter how it looks. We all
realize “pride” keeps us from changing, yes, there are
exceptions but prayer is stronger.

Everyone pray for him, from your heart, Heaven is watching this and saying “have faith.”

thank you for your thread EoHH,

Thanks for the encouragement, stpio. I feel like I”m in the trenches here in WI.

I no longer want to be a member of an organization who would pull this stunt on Rick with Ryan and Grebe coming out of the bushes on the last weekend before the primary...

I’m a Conservative only from now on.

I still don’t know why this man thought he should run for POTUS. Did he look in the mirror one morning and think, “Hey! I may not be the smartest bulb in the box, but I’m as smart as the average American. They elected Obama. Hey! They just might vote for me too.”

I swear. He’s as unlikable as Romney and lies about as often... Conservative my foot. How did we get ourselves into this mess?

Four years ago I couldn’t wait for the 2012 election. Now? We get to choose between dumb and dumber. Again.

Although not in Wisconsin, I did make pro-Santorum comments and appeals today in the “Comments” section of three of the larger Wisconsin newspapers. May not make any difference, but I do what I can.

Hey, everyone, notice “more light”...er “grace” is coming down. Mark Levin pointed out today, the “insiders” are supporting Romney, what does that tell you? We’re being
shown who is truly conservative.

Another, the Supreme Court decision happening now.

Keep fighting! Challenge credentials at the convention. Initiate rules and plank fights on the floor. Upset the apple cart. There will be no GOP-e “coronation”. Never give up. Romney can be denied the nomination but only the conservative grassroots, Tea Party, FR, etc., can do that. Ignore the closet Mitt supporters here who only talk smack on Rick. Man up, Folks. This is Anzio and Iwo Jima.

Is this the same Santorum who jumped on the bandwagon to lynch the guy who defended himself in Flori-duh?

Taking sides with Oboma-bots in a clearly manufactured “Crises”, weeks after the incident happened and the local cops already made their determination?

Exactly what is “Conservative” about this course of exploitation?

Low turnout + high Romney negatives = SANTORUM can actually SHOCK the MSM and party establishment to WIN in Wisconsin early next week by several points. It is all about courage, commitmrnt and direct action. Despite what a few FR noisemakers who pose for Newt but hate Rick and are actually for Little Mitt here. It can be done. I am relling you! There is a large enough undecided as well!! People can call Wisconsin voters for Rick from their homes....Romney is not inevitable despite that narrative 24/7 these days.

I Find Santorum plenty likable - and he has a backbone. He isn't perfect by any means but neither is Newt and Newt is finished (and needs to bow out). Santorum is FAR more conservative than Romney and we had all better start supporting him or we will get Romney. Anyone can beat obummer in the general election - if they stay on topic and turn every question around to the economy.

To me, God’s grace is tangible, people are seeing the effort to pray brings results.

God’s grace coming down is everyone’s “enlightenment” this last week concerning BHO (via the Supreme Court) and about Romney. Keep praying and offer a “little” sacrifice to God, skip a meal, or a coffee. If someone is unkind, offer the suffering of their meanness up for Santorum who is the godly, moral conservative candidate.

Conservatives, Christians, we can with God’s grace defeat the biased media and the “establishment’s choice.” Pray everybody and do not listen to “it’s over, it’s already decided.”

If asked, Romney would say the same thing. Not to take away from Rick, but past records, vision, and the ability to communicate the vision are far more useful than statements trying to affirm that those who worry about his conservativism can relax. It would be useful to ask why he has to make that statement at this stage of the game.

You’re out in left field here...somewhat literally. ;-)

Santorum is quite bright, watch a few of his speeches (with no teleprompter I might add) and you’ll see. He served for several years on the Armed Services Committee, so he’s the strongest current candidate on national defense. Finally, the candidate’s campaign platform is just as important as his qualifications, as long as he sticks to his stated positions - which is where 0bamney fails. Rick’s platform is absolutely a winner.

If it’s a choice between Rick Santorum and Willard Romney for our candidate, Rick is the slam dunk easy choice.

He's pointing out that 0bamney's claim to being conservative are hollow and false, compared with his much more consistent conservative message. Don't forget that he's still being outspent somewhere around five to one in most states, he needs to get his message out.

That reminds me, time for a donation...

Not that it matters, but Jesus is my Lord and Savior and I have been Baptized.

Yours however is the typical stiff necked response I would expect from a sanctimonious Santorum supporter.

The better question is what do other candidates think of Jesus. I take Newt at his word that he has repented and that his conversion is real.

If you think you know the heart of another man and the mind of God, that is your fools errand. Go for it.

Santorum and his wife changed. They’re no longer part of the Culture of Death. Imagine, going so far as believing God on Contraception (a form of abortion) and proclaiming it when most of the country and the world are for selfish sinful contraception. How many children do you have and how many does Santorum have? His life shows his conversion besides we see his change of vote in Congress.

There is no change to witness in Romney and he keeps secret, silent about his crazy Mormon beliefs, in no way are they Christian.

Just came from a Meet N’Greet with Karen Santorum and Sarah that I organized. It was great. What a wonderful family are the Santorums.

I gave them a Cheesehead for Rick. There was alot of laffter and love in the room.

We heard from Sandy Rios, a radio host, how much money the Mittens campaign is funneling into media, radio stations, etc. I’m convinced he has paid off Fox News too.

This is Ground Zero. We need to fight for Rick right now!
It’s not true that he is ten points behind in WI. Call at home, donate, please help us bring this home for Santorum...and defeat the Massachusetts Liberal. I don’t refer to the nasty man as a moderate any more.

And please pray! I believe that God is watching over us and wants us to win this election and defeat Hussein and prevent our country from ruin.

Thanks for the support from all of you who know how important WI. is right now. And we are having to work harder because of Paul Ryan. Thanks Paul. So glad to hear about your total and complete cave in. Money from me in your next election? In your Rino dreams.

I hear you MM. We attended the FAith and Freedom Coalition Presidential Kick Off in WAukesha today and heard Gingrich, Romney, and Santorum speak — in that order. I have to say that Gingrich gave the best speech — hit every point square on. Santorum was good too, but he seemed a little tired. I thought Romney’s speech was full of big holes — lots of meaningless anecdotes and very light on what he actually intended to do if elected.

It was a terrific event however. In addition to the 3 candidates, we heard Paul Ryan, Alberto Gonzalez, Ralph Reed, and several others. The event started on time and was over on time.

My heart is stilll with Santorum, and I’m sick of the Romney robo-calls. I think we had 5 today. I’m even getting calls from Obama. I don’t know how we got on THAT list. I consider them threats. Obama calls and says that he is going to cll back so that we can answer questions. Does he really think that I’m going to answer the phone?
