Texas lawyers offer $10,000 for George Zimmerman's legal defense

The National Association for Legal Gun Defense wants to contribute $10,000 toward George Zimmerman's legal expenses, a member said today.

The group represents gun owners involved in self-defense shooting cases, said attorney Blue Rannefeld of Fort Worth, Texas.

Rannefeld said he has not been able to contact Zimmerman, 28, and is trying to reach Zimmerman's attorney, Craig Sonner of Altamonte Springs to make the group's offer of assistance.

A fine gesture, but he has more pressing concerns at the moment.

Contributing to a fund for his literal defense and personal security might be more practical right now, given the growing lynch mob mentality and mounting sum offered as a bounty.

It’s becoming a foregone conclusion that more people are going to die because of this. I just hope George Zimmerman isn’t among them. He deserves his day in court, if he’s ever even charged with anything that is.

He deserves the opportunity to clear his name.

Is the end game of this the same as it was for Fast and Furious, to reduce or remove the right to bear arms? In other words, do they want to make an environment where even if you are still technically allowed to have arms, you would not be allowed to use them in self defense because your name would be plastered across the media and roving bands of our modern barbarians (whatever the color) would march around, protest and put a price on your head? I can only hope that with all the latitude the “oppressed” minorities have to show their “true colors”, so to speak, the white kids aren’t so indoctrinated that they no longer even believe their own eyes and ears after repeated incidents like this. OMG! My Wife and I go weekly and we have to get there a half hour early to get a bay to shoot in.
We're very courteous shooters, too. After about 20 minutes (100 rounds), we're out of there to let the next folks have the bay.
