One is black and has big brown eyes. The other is a blue-eyed blonde with the palest of skin.
They might share the same cheeky smile, but side by side, they could hardly look less alike.
Yet remarkably, Kian and Remee are twins, born a minute apart.
The pair owe their appearance to a one in a million combination of their parents genes.
Mother Kylee Hodgson and father Remi Horder both have white mothers and black fathers.
The startling result is a two-tone set of delightful little girls.
They first attracted international attention when they were featured in the Mail at less than a year old.

Now, approaching their seventh birthday, they have never asked why they dont look the same, nor have they ever experienced any racial prejudice.
They are such a perfect example of how it should be, their mother told the Mail. They are not bothered about their skin colour. Its not the big issue everyone else seems to see it as. It isnt important to them at all its about what theyre like underneath.
Kian and her 60-second older sister were delivered in April 2005 by caesarean section.
Kylee, now 25, recalls the moment she saw them for the first time: I noticed that both of them had beautiful blue eyes, she said.
But while Remees hair was blonde, Kians was black and she had darker skin. To me, they were my kids and they were just normal. I thought they would start to look the same as time went on.

Loving: Black and white twin sisters Kian (left) and Remee (right), seven years after they came into the world
I knew of a similar set of British twins twenty years ago. I was friends with the sister, who looked white. She showed me a picture of her twin brother, who looked black (a lot darker than the twin seen here.) Her mother was English and her father from Africa (I don’t remember which country.)
Aren’t genes just a kick in the pants....
Sweet kids, may the lord look after and protect them.
I think God has put the black/white issue to rest with these twins. Will Obama ever let us move forward?
Let’s see which on eis more successful in 20 years.
I would be proud to have them as my daughters.
What beautiful children!
They do look quite a bit alike, except for the complections. Fraternal twins look as much like each other as any set of siblings.
That is so very nicely put.
Also, before I knew Derek Jeter had a black father and white mom, when he first came up to the majors, I saw a picture of him with his sister and her skin is a lot darker then his. I thought they must be step brother and sister but they're not.
If only it could be. He has done more harm in that area than anyone since Lyndon Johnson who still remains the worst president of my lifetime.
Beautiful girls.
Beautiful girls.
The two girls are obviously not identical twins, so they are genetically as similar as ordinary sisters. Notice that they really do look alike. By heredity, they are half white. So, the recombination would be expected occasionally to give such a result, and the chances are much better than a million to one.
Both are very cute, and they look nice together. They are in a two-parent family, which is an advantage lacking for 41% of the children new-born in our own country nowadays.
There is no reason these girls shouldn’t live happy lives. God bless them!

So cool and just a reminder from God that we can all be traced back to the same beginning that was documented in Genesis. :)
Big deal.
What a great comment. Perhaps we should send the thread to flag at whitehouse.gov ;-)

The first time I saw a photo of Jeter (back when he was in AA or AAA), it was a black-and-white picture in a newspaper and I thought he (i) was white and (ii) looked a bit like Cal Ripken; only later did I realize that he’s half black.
What beautiful girls! The black/white thing doesn’t startle me that much, though. We have fraternal twin boys . . . and one looks like my side of the familiy (and acts it) and one looks like my husband’s side of the family (and acts it!). The difference is so pronounced that people remarked on it as soon as we brought them home. “Genetics in action” is always a funny thing!
I’m from Missouri: show me their DNA.
Cheers!

I can see a lot of similarities in both, notably in the hair. Skin pigment is fabulously easy to change from generation to generation - I see it up here in Alaska, where most of the Native kids in my classroom have non-Native parents, and skin tones are simply all over the board. My own kid, too - my wife is Italian, I’m Russian Jew, and my son has a olive tone that browns up instantly in the sun - nothing at all like me.
I’d be a little annoyed using these kids as a skin color freak show, but that’s the British tabloid press for you. I expect to see one or both on page three in 20 years. If you know what I mean. Wink, wink. Nudge, nudge. Say no more.
