A 30-year-old man was shot and killed Friday evening after he broke into a North Bend home, according to officials with the King County Sheriff’s Office. The homeowner shot the intruder because the intruder threatened the homeowner and his girlfriend, said officials.
According to Sgt. Cindi West of the King County Sheriff’s Office, the fatal shooting occurred after 11:40 p.m. in the 300 block of Southeast 5th Street when a woman called about a man pounding on her door and windows.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they could not find the man, but they heard a large crash and banging from a nearby house, said officials.
The sheriff’s office said a 46-year-old man and his girlfriend were woken up by the sound of glass breaking. The intruder broke a sliding glass door to enter their home.
West said while the couple hid locked themselves in a bedroom and spoke with a 911 operator, the intruder continued to threaten them.
According to West, the intruder was yelling, "Where are you at? I'm going to kill you."
The man who lived inside of the home retrieved his handgun, according to officials. He told the intruder he had a gun and to get out of his house.
After the intruder kept threatening the homeowner, he knocked the bedroom door down, and the homeowner fired at the intruder, said West.
When deputies arrived at the scene they found the intruder’s body outside of the bedroom.
West said the incident was a clear case of self-defense.

Western Washington has had a rash of home intrusion breakins lately, one last week just a mile from my house, where the home owner was tied up with his own shoelaces. And I still have to argue with my wife why its important to keep a gun in my nightstand. She is one of those, "I don't mind having them in the house, as long as they are locked up" type people.
Do we have a high school prom photo of the intruder?

At least you wife will let you keep a gun in the house. My wife is still arguing against it. Cavello’s is opening soon and I plan on getting a firearm. I can’t wait for police to respond in case someone breaks in.

I saw that on the news and the one old guy was saying “well, ya come in my house uninvited and bang - that’s it.”
And then the middle age gal “I don’t have any guns...I don’t know what I would have done.”
Just down the freeway in Issaquah last fall when that gunman was roaming the school area, some kids ran into some guy’s garage. The gunman watched them go in and the owner closed the door. One of the kids asked “Hey mister - ya got a gun?” Sadly the owner said no. Luckily the nutcase didn’t go after them.
Obama said, “If I had a son, he would look like ***”.
Obama seems to have had a lot of sons we don’t know about.

If it’s happening in North Bend, it can happen anywhere. North Bend is a smallish town in the outer suburbs. It’s maybe 30 miles from Seattle - not some sort of urban slum.
North Bend is nice, but some of those back roads do have there share of drug operations. And the one case a few weeks ago noted in number one where the homeowner was tied up was in a REAL nice neighborhood with what seemed to be million dollar homes. 3 Hispanics crashed through the slider - he’s lucky to be alive.

Keep in mind that criminals often have access to cars, and try to rob/burglarize houses and people at a distance from their domicile.
Professionals plan their operations, with particular care to select goods that can be sold easily and get away routes. A German soldier named “Lamm” was cashiered, and made a career as a bank robber, hence the term ‘on the Lamm’ for following a preplanned and rehearsed get away route.
North Bend?
That’s where refugees from Seattle move for a low crime rate and peace and quiet.
No one is safe.
Always hard to predict the race in metro Seattle.
I live in Bellevue - almost no Blacks, 27% Asian, and 25% foreign born (lots of Russians and Eastern Europeans).
