Since I've been working for four years to build a principled, practical alternative to the formerly grand old party, it's in my personal self-interest that Romney wins the GOP nomination. There are millions of conservatives who will NEVER vote for the lying socialist, no matter how much Republican hacks fear-monger. And who knows, those conservatives may just like what we're offering.

And yet, no one has worked any harder than I have to expose Republican conservatives to the truth about Romney. No Republican conservative will be able to truthfully accuse me of not warning them. I have acted in good faith.

But, anyway, they didn't listen. The die is pretty much cast. Your party has made its decision to follow the Whigs onto the ash heap of history.

Even though I spent twenty years of my life defending and building the Republican Party, I now say "good riddance."

OK I'll try;

The GOP-e is in a symbiotic relationship with the far more powerful leftwing elite which controls the messaging in America.

This gives the real media power, ultimate control over the GOP-e. In effect a veto.

The two, combined, are the US "establishment".

Each election, the liberals game each emerging GOP candidate as they become identified. They are studied, and the hard-left decides amongst themselves, which among all the likely candidates pose a real risk to them.

In the 2008 election, that candidate was early on, identified as Duncan Hunter. For 2012, Sarah Palin.

At that point, the real establishment (globalist hardcore left) let it be known to their puppets, "establishment in name only" Republican elites, those were unacceptable, and would cause damage to the mutually beneficial relationship between the elder leftwing, and the junior "conservative" elites.

At that point, the media elite begin their work of marginalizing that problem candidate (in 2008, utterly blacking out any coverage of Duncan Hunter, in 2012 using Alinsky tactics against Governor Palin).

Meanwhile the GOP-e is waiting passively, because that's what the GOP-e does.

Once they've stuck their fingers in the wind long enough to figure out which candidate the real establishment will allow them - they throw the weight of their combined 98 pounds behind that candidate and do the best they can to appear as if they've "led".

I would agree but there are no Ds and Rs in the oligarchy that has been formed in the "Imperial" city.
Look how quickly the "barbarians" from 2010 have been assimilated. Two more years and you won't be able to discern them from the "elites".

I believe the election will be over in June not November and it will be decided already be our rulers. It's a "win win" for the elites
Romney will not employ the same tactics against Obama that he used against his own party(Think "MacLame redux.) and he has nothing else to run on in the general election.

Romney on the other hand, has with Machiavellian precision eliminated every challenger. Every single one. He’s absolutely ruthless.

Why do you keep repeating that, when I've already pointed out to you that Romney lost a run for the U.S. Senate to Teddy Kennedy?

Really, Romney Republicans are going to have enough credibility problems without making stuff up that is common knowledge and easily disprovable.

OK well I appreciate your thoughts.

I believe I’ve stated mine clearly, and no amount of repetition will clarify anything I’ve said.

I understand that even taking the position that Romney, if nominated, should have our full support is a risky position to take here - and I value the opportunity to FReep very highly.

Sincere FReegards to you. Carry on please. :D

“The GOP has made it perfectly clear that they don’t want conservatives in the party.”

This is the most succint point made so far on the thread and bears repeating.

I too will not vote for Romney under any circumstances.

All the bullying, insulting and guilting going on here is completely unconvincing and shows just how empty the liberal republican position is. Romney is a socialist and is no better than Obama because he is “our” socialist.

I should have expressed my agreement with Sara’s post when she made it, but I was kind of busy.

Right on the money!

"Emigrate" comes to mind. The Republicans haven't been "Conservative" since Reagan, if then.

We have a winner.

I’ve seen her on TV. She’s quite correct, of course.

Does “time to stop whining” mean “pretend that Romney is something other than worthless”?

If Romney was elected President and did far-left junk, Republican AND Democratic members of Congress would sign onto it.

THAT is the danger.

I don't think so, but its possible. Remember how House Repubs voted against immigration reform and TARP under Bush. They are more conservative as a group this time around.

I'm going to be optimistic that if Romney gets the Presidency, he will do a good job. Only God knows though.

However,I cringe at the thought of another four years of Obama...

I’m really sorry to have gotten involved with you. How close are we anyway? I thought it was funny that you caught me. I honestly didn’t remember the whining comment.

Please whine on.

All I’m saying is that Romney is gonna get the nomination and that I prefer him to Obama and that anybody who does not prefer Romney to Obama has a screw loose somewhere.

So, yes, it is time to devote ourselves to the disaster that is Obama and stop him any way we can.

Well, bye then. You and the other ‘principled’ people who want 4 more years of Obama because you are too noble to vote for someone who doesn’t meet your standards should arrange to meet after the election ... maybe in the unemployment line.

I wish you would take your nonsense to some other forum, but this is a free country.

At least so far.

I absoFReepinglutely Agree!

If Obama is re-elected, he and his LIEberal/Socialist/Marxist/Fascist hangers on will completely destroy the USA.

We must elect conservatives to, and depend on, the House and the Senate to keep Romney on the straight and narrow.

Now is the time for all good men and women to come to the aid of their country — VOTE AGAINST OBAMA!

Ah. More translation from Romney Republican-speak required I see.

“You and the other ‘principled’ people who want 4 more years of Obama” = Those who will not vote for the most liberal governor in the history of the republic.

It's sheer lunacy to vote for someone whose record is foursquare against what you believe in.

Mitt Romney violates the stated purposes of this site, in detail. So your wish is ludicrous.

You know, if you spent as much time working to affirmatively get someone you agree with elected, rather than simply complaining about Romney, Gingrich would probably be leading in electoral votes right now.

Since you didn’t, we’re stuck with Romney, it would seem.

Great job.
